In April 2003, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Changsha Jiaotong University and Changsha Institute of Electric Power merged to form Changsha University of Science and Technology. In August of the same year, the school completed the merger of libraries and the library of Changsha University of Science and Technology was established. In August 2007, the library of the new campus (Yuntang Campus) was officially put into use. At this point, the service pattern of the library of Changsha University of Science and Technology was established, integrating the library of Yuntang Campus, the library of Jinpenling Campus (Hall A and Hall B) and the reference rooms of various departments, and it has continued to this day. The library has a total construction area of 60,600 m2 (including Yuntang Campus Library of 36433 m2, Hall A 1 1207 m2, Hall B 1 1265 m2, and College Reference Room 1657 m2), with an average construction area of 2.37m2. There are 6847 reading seats, with an average of 0.27 students. The book classification system adopted by the library of Changsha University of Science and Technology is Chinese Library Book Classification (4th edition). All books are divided into 22 categories, and each category is represented by capital letters.
Ten categories of books, such as A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, J and K, are placed in the "Social Science Library" in Hall A and Hall B, referred to as "Social Science Library" for short; In Yuntang Pavilion, they were placed in China Social Science Library 1 to China Social Science Library 4. Class I books, in Hall A and Hall B, are placed in the "literature stack", referred to as "literature stack" for short; In Yuntang Pavilion, it was placed in China Social Science Book Hall 4 together with K Book. Books of N, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, X, Z, etc. 1 1 are placed in the "natural science stacks" in Hall A and Hall B, referred to as "self-discipline stacks" for short; In Yuntang Pavilion, they are placed in the first library of self-taught books in China to the fourth library of self-taught books in China. The most commonly used books in the 22 categories are placed in the "common book lending and returning office" in Hall A and Hall B respectively. However, this setting will be phased out. Books that are not commonly used in the 22 categories, books with a small amount of borrowing, and relatively old books are placed in the "book comprehensive lending and returning office" of Hall A and Hall B; In Yuntang Pavilion, it is placed in the storage room.
