As early as 1994, Liaotu carried out large-scale open-shelf borrowing in the open-shelf stacks, put forward the slogan of "open-shelf, open-shelf, non-internal reading", and also borrowed books, periodicals and audio-visual documents from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan that had never been borrowed before, with the number of open-shelf books reaching more than 6.5438+0.9 million. Based on the practice of open-shelf service for many years, from the perspective of library management and service humanization, and from the concept of reader-centered public library, Liaotu made an all-round analysis and rational thinking on the original open-shelf service model, and innovatively proposed and realized a new open-shelf service supermarket management model, also known as "supermarket-style" open-shelf.

The implementation of "supermarket-style" shelf opening has changed the original "stack management as the center" to "readers' needs as the center", realizing a compound service integrating multiple document resource storage and multiple service functions, which not only expands circulation, improves the utilization rate of document resources, but also reflects the humanistic care of the library for readers. In recent years, Liaotu has attracted many readers to borrow books from the library, with the total number of readers receiving more than 6,543,800,000 and the number of books circulating more than 2 million times.
