The library of Yancheng Teachers College was formed by the merger of the former library of Yancheng Teachers College and the library of Yancheng Education College 1999, and the library of Yancheng Commercial School was merged in 2002. The existing construction area of the library is 39,564.60 square meters, including 32,465.00 square meters in Xinchang Campus and 7099.60 square meters in Tongyu Campus. There are 4,787 reading seats, including 3,900 in Xinchang Campus Library and 887 in Tongyu Campus Library.
The library now has offices, literature resources department, technology department, reader service department, information consultation department and other departments. With complete service functions and advanced management methods, the library can provide various and multi-level services for all teachers and students, such as borrowing, reading, information consultation, document retrieval, online learning, reader education, audio-visual appreciation and so on.
In recent years, according to the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" and the needs of undergraduate teaching, the library has followed the principle of "taking teaching as the center, serving scientific research, overall planning, rational allocation, highlighting key points and building characteristics" to build literature resources. The library website "Sunshine Net" was founded in August 1998, and has undergone four major revisions so far. With the care and support from all walks of life, Sunshine.com has been constantly developing and updating, with its functions gradually enhanced and its services increasingly improved. It has been rated as an excellent website of the school for many times, with a cumulative visit of 35 million by the end of February 2009.
Xinchang Campus Library is the landmark building of Xinchang Campus and the largest single building, which was completed and put into use at the end of 2007. There are more than 2,000 information points in the museum, realizing the wireless coverage of the whole museum. There are 20 inquiry machines and 4 touch screens in the online public retrieval area on the second floor, so readers can conveniently inquire about the library's book catalogue and personal borrowing information. The library is responsible for the liaison work of university libraries in Yancheng, and holds regular meetings of university librarians to discuss the sharing of literature resources and the handling of universal library cards, which has made contributions to promoting the sharing of local literature resources.
