Liaocheng Children's Community Library is the first public children's book lending library in Liaocheng City, Shandong Province. Children aged 3- 15 are free to help children develop good reading habits. Books are mainly divided into picture books and children's books. Meet the reading needs of children of different ages.
First of all, at first
In a room of more than 330 square meters, there are several bookshelves full of books, a sofa, several benches and three computers ... It is this humble little space that is crowded with children every weekend, from three or four years old to more than ten years old, sitting or standing, looking for their own happiness in books. Here is Meng Qi Library, the first children's public welfare community library in Liaocheng-Meng Qi Library.
Chen Chen, the librarian, wears a pair of glasses on his nose. He is gentle, but his words are forceful: helping children form a good habit of reading from an early age.
Second, development.
Chen Chen, who graduated from the university of 20 14, didn't embark on the road of taking the civil service examination to enter the enterprise like other students, but chose to start his own business. The inspiration for starting his own business came from a community library he came into contact with during his college days in Jinan, which mainly served children.
There, Chen Chen, who grew up in rural guanxian and had few opportunities to study, was deeply touched when he saw his children roaming in the sea of books. He thinks it is meaningful to build a community library, so that children can learn wisdom from books.
20 14 Just after the Spring Festival, he came to Liaocheng with more than 80,000 yuan funded by his parents. With the help of his classmates, he chose the site, decorated it, bought books and publicized it in one go. On March 20th, 20 14, Meng Qi Library, full of his painstaking efforts and sweat, opened for the first time at the east end of Liaocheng Middle Street, mainly providing books borrowing and free reading services for children aged 3- 15.
Chen Chen told reporters that unlike the community library in Jinan, which is supported by the government, Meng Qi Library is totally funded by itself, so how to survive in the library has become the biggest problem he faces. In order to serve children for a long time, Meng Qi Library implements membership system. Members can borrow one book at a time, and the membership fee for two years is only 100 yuan.
In order to open up the market, attract social attention and let the public know about Meng Qi Library, he printed a large number of publicity color pages, which were distributed at the school gate at ordinary times and set up stalls in the community at weekends for reading promotion. The road to entrepreneurship is difficult. Although reading is free, it is a new thing for Liaocheng. They don't have enough credibility to make people trust. After a month, only 23 members were recruited, and the fees collected were not even enough for the rent of the month.
In the evening, Chen Chen lies in bed at night, feeling extremely depressed: I have tried my best, why the effect is still not satisfactory. However, re-examining the list of more than 20 members has doubled his confidence: "In the absence of credibility, some people believe in us, indicating that there is demand and market. As long as you persist, you will definitely do well. "
After that, he worked harder, and soon, several of his classmates joined in and further expanded his team. Several hot-blooded young men, who go to work during the day and get off work at night, get together to analyze the gains and losses of one day and discuss the plans for the next day. Sometimes they talk about one or two points. The excitement of starting a business and enterprising makes them full of energy.
Thanks to their unremitting efforts, one year has passed, and the library has more than 600 members, with a collection of more than 1 1000 volumes, including picture books, children's literature, children's encyclopedia and children's popular science. It can basically meet the reading needs of children.
At this time, Chen Chen's heart is full of infinite longing: the door of dreams is slowly opening to him.
