Emily Arnold McCully was born in Fort gayles, Illinois. She has been naughty, daring and adventurous since childhood. Mccully studied at Brown University and Columbia University, and received a master's degree in art history. Mccully began to believe in hand painting at the age of three and has been writing for a living since he grew up. However, her love for painting finally prompted her to try until she became an excellent picture book planner and won the Cadic Prize.
