Yueyang City has jurisdiction over 3 districts and 4 counties, namely: Yueyang Tower District, Junshan District and Yunxi District; Yueyang County, Xiangyin County, Pingjiang County and Huarong County; It also manages two county-level cities: Miluo City and Linxiang City. Yueyang was called "Baling" in ancient times, also known as "Yuezhou". The establishment of a prefecture-level city in Hunan began in 505 BC, and it was named after the original county was located in Shan Zhinan, the shogunate of Tian Yue.
