German folk literature researcher, linguist and folklorist. Two brothers were born in a lawyer's family in Hanao-am-Main on June 4th, 785 and February 24th, 786, respectively, and died in Berlin on September 20th, 863 and June 6th, 859, respectively. They have similar experiences and hobbies. They studied law at Marburg University in 1802 and 1803 respectively. 1808, Jacob was the personal librarian of King Jerome of westfalen, Napoleon's younger brother, in Kassel. 18 13 after Napoleon's defeat, the kingdom of Westphalia was abolished and the principality of Hesse was established. Jacob served as Counsellor of the legation and attended the Vienna Conference. My younger brother William has been the secretary of Kassel Library since 18 14. 18 16 Jacob resigned from his diplomatic post and became the second librarian of Kassel Library. The brothers Green received an honorary doctorate from Marburg University. 1829, two brothers went to gottingen at the invitation of the king of hanover. In addition to being a university professor, Jacob worked as a university librarian with his younger brother, and later William became a university professor. 1837, brothers grimm and five other professors were dismissed as professors because they wrote a letter to protest against the violation of the constitution by the king of hanover. These seven professors are called the Seven Gentlemen of Gottingen. The brothers grimm were banished back to the castle. 1at the end of 840, the brothers grimm went to Berlin at the invitation of King William IV of Prussia, served as academicians of the Royal Academy of Sciences and taught at universities. 1848 Jacob was elected as the representative of Frankfurt National Assembly. After their death, both brothers were buried in the cemetery of Matthew Church in Berlin.
Since 1806, Brothers Grimm have devoted themselves to the collection, collation and research of folk fairy tales and legends, and published Children's and Family Fairytales (two volumes) and German Legends (two volumes). Jacob also published German Myth, and William published legends about ancient German folk songs and heroes. During the period of 1806 ~ 1826, Jacob also studied linguistics and wrote a four-volume magnum opus "German Grammar", which is a historical grammar and later called "Basic Course of Germanic Language". In the revised edition of German Grammar 1822, he put forward the law of phonetic evolution in Indo-European, which was later called Green's Law. He pointed out that in the history of Indo-European Germanic language family, the consonant combination evolved once in English and low German, and once again in high German. In fact, Green's law is only generally correct, and was later supplemented by K.A. Werner. At the end of 1838, the brothers grimm began to compile a German dictionary, and the first to third volumes were published on 1854 ~ 1862 * *. The two brothers failed to complete this huge project before their death. Later, German linguists continued this work until 196 1.
They all came from official families, studied law at Marburg University, worked in Kassel Library and served as professors at Yengen University, and became academicians of Green Academy of Sciences at 184 1. Together, they compile fairy tales for children and families (the last edition was published in 1857 and ***2 16 stories). Among them, such famous works as Cinderella, Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood and Brave Little Tailor have become masterpieces loved by children all over the world. In addition, since 1808, the Brothers Grimm began to collect German folklore and published 585 German legends in two volumes. They also wrote German Grammar (18 19 ~ 1837), German Language History (1848), German Dictionary (1852) and other academic works, which are German linguistics.
Brothers Grimm lived in Germany in the19th century, and were linguists and ancient cultural researchers. In college, they met the romantic poets brentano and Arnim in Heidelberg. Their collection of German folk song "The Boy's Magic Horn" inspired the two brothers. Later, the two brothers visited people who are good at telling fairy tales in Hesse and Main River, and collected stories from them. Over the past few years, there have been more than 100 articles.
18 12, these stories were compiled into the first volume of Children and Family Fairy Tales, which was published on Christmas Eve in Berlin and was very popular. From then on, until 1857, the brothers Grimm constantly supplemented the story and revised it repeatedly, and * * * published seven editions. The seventh edition later became the original version circulated in various countries, and has been translated into dozens of languages so far, and many stories are widely circulated.
As early as 1925, there was a translation of Grimm's Fairy Tales in China, which was compiled by the Compilation Department of Henan Provincial Education Department at that time, and included 10 stories such as Snow Girl and Six Servants, and was named "Golmud Fairy Tales Collection" by Wang. Since then, Zhao, a famous writer, has also translated Grimm's Fairy Tales into six articles, including The Raven, which were published by Chongwen Publishing House, but the age is no longer available.
There are different opinions about how many stories are collected in Grimm's fairy tales, some say 2 16, others say 2 1 1. 1934 The Commercial Press publishes Wei Yi's new translation-Wei is a famous translator, who has translated Min Haosheng's Travels and other works. This translation is divided into two volumes, which is based on the "German Masterpieces Series" in Leipzig, Germany, and contains 265,438+00 articles. There is a biography of the brothers grimm in front of the book, which is called the complete works of grimm's fairy tales.
This version of Business is the most complete translation before liberation and received rave reviews after publication. After the founding of New China, Shanghai Children's Publishing House and People's Literature Publishing House were reprinted in 1956 and 1959 respectively. Since then, the Humanities Society has been continuously reprinted, and last year, it launched a series of "Famous Translation Illustrations".
Another noteworthy version is Yang's translation published by Guangxi Normal University Press in 2003, which was previously published by Yilin Press as 1993, and later included in the collection of Yang's translation published by Guangxi Normal University Press, with 206 stories. Yang translated many works of Schiller and Goethe, and was a famous German translator.
