Guangdong Sheikh Theological Seminary Library
On April 1 20065438, the new school building was officially completed, and the library had a new home, and the use environment and collection space were greatly improved (see attached figure). As of April 2003, there are 1 1000 books, which is still a very small number.

The new library is a beautiful circular building. It is divided into two floors, each of which can hold more than 30,000 books. Bookshelves are made of modern and advanced painted steel plates, which are firm, rust-proof and moth-proof. The second floor is used for reading. When the quantity increases, 10000-20000 volumes can be added on the second floor. The maximum capacity of this library can hold 50000 books. In the process of continuous development of Concord Theological Seminary, the library of Concord Theological Seminary has also been listed as a key development project, and gradually managed by specialized personnel. In March 2003, Pastor Xue Haian was in charge of the collection. In 2005, formal and reasonable cataloging began, and computerized management was implemented. At present, the library adopts two kinds of book cataloging, which belong to theology (religious books) and adopts the classification of the Library of Congress. Non-theological books published in China adopt China Book Classification (hereinafter referred to as Chinese Library Classification).

In Chinese mainland, most libraries use China Library Classification, but it is not suitable for theological seminaries. This is related to the lack of detailed classification of Christianity in China Library Classification, and the only rough classification is far from meeting the demand of theological books. Therefore, in order to facilitate management, two classification methods are adopted. At present, the library of East China Theological Seminary also adopts this model, while the library of Jinling Theological Seminary has its own cataloging model besides the above two models. Theological seminary libraries have relatively professional collections, and the lack of funds and professional talents in theological seminaries has also brought some difficulties to the management and development of some theological seminaries.

With the extensive use of computers, the library of Concord Theological Seminary has also established a computerized automatic management and cataloging system. At present, the British and American Cataloguing Rules and the China Document Cataloguing Rules are used. The library management system can support "USMARC" and "CNMARC" at the same time, which makes the library move towards standardization gradually and lays an important foundation for the future development of the library. Up to June 20 10, there are nearly 30,000 books. In the collection, religious books account for 70%, while books on philosophy and other subjects account for 30%. Many other tasks of the library are to train some students to do volunteer work. Volunteer students are mainly responsible for: borrowing and returning registration, shelving, newspaper classification, printing bookmarks, labeling classification, and some can also help with tedious work such as cataloging.

The library of Concord Theological Seminary has now implemented standardized cataloging, which makes the collection and book purchase clearer. It is clear at a glance what kind of books are missing, what kind of books are insufficient, and which books will be repeated. When buying books, they are usually based on the list provided by the teacher. According to the needs of teaching, students prefer books on a certain theme and pay attention to the newly published books of various publishing houses. Most books are bought in Hong Kong.

The library adopts the open management mode. Generally, borrowing in the library does not need to be registered, while borrowing outside the library needs to be registered. Students often write papers in the library, which is open for a long time, from 8: 30 in the morning to 10 in the evening. Most students like reading newspapers, periodicals and books related to their study topics. There are also many English books in the library, but the utilization rate is not high. The theological seminary library is very important, especially today when the China Church advocates the construction of theological thought. The library needs to have a rich collection of books and related books. Pastors who work in grass-roots churches, in particular, usually find it difficult to access enough books and information, and it is difficult to have substantive or academic content. In the future, we hope to expand the scope of services, not only for teachers and students in theological seminaries, but also for pastors and co-workers in local churches. Now we have carefully collected books about local culture, customs and folk beliefs in China. Because if the church wants to integrate into the society of China, it must have a full understanding of China culture, which is of great help to promote the establishment of its own theological thought in China. Due to the limitations of the library, the collection of books in the library also has certain emphasis. Especially in recent years, the library has carefully collected and bound some picture books and articles with the theme of theological thought construction. At present, the library focuses on the collection of information about churches all over Guangdong, including bits and pieces of information about churches in Guangdong, and the new church has been completed as a special issue. All these reflect the development of Guangdong churches after the reform and opening up, and also reflect the development of China churches in this special historical period. Because the seminary library is small in scale, each library should have its own characteristics, and the library of Guangdong Union Medical College Seminary should have its own uniqueness in the future.

On one occasion, the president of Hong Kong Chongzhen and a graduate student from Germany went to the library of Concord Theological Seminary to find information on the construction of theological thought, and all the information they wanted to write a thesis could be found satisfactory. Compared with the collections of other universities, the collection of Concord Theological Seminary is far from enough. However, a seminary can be a professional library.

The future development goal of Union Theological Seminary Library is to realize networking and provide resources for clergy and laymen who serve the church in the form of membership. Borrowing from different places can be realized through computers, and borrowing can also be provided through express delivery. This can meet the increasing demand of believers for spiritual knowledge and make the library play a greater role.
