Library Science of Sichuan University was founded in 1983, and changed its name to information resource management in 2004. It stopped enrolling students in the undergraduate stage of library science and only enrolled students in the postgraduate stage.

65438-0983 With the approval of the Ministry of Education, Sichuan University established the undergraduate major of library science. 1990-1998 enrolls China history major, China book history and library history major, radio electronics major, library and modern information technology major. 1998, Sichuan University and Chengdu Literature and Information Center of China Academy of Sciences both applied for the master's degree in library science, and were approved by the Ministry of Education, becoming the first unit in western China to have the right to award the master's degree in library science. 1999 Postgraduates majoring in library science were officially enrolled, and now three research directions are offered: modern library and information technology, information resource management, and information analysis and retrieval. The academic system lasts for 3 years, and a master's degree in management is awarded after graduation.
Graduate students of this major are jointly trained by School of Management of Sichuan University and Chengdu Literature and Information Center of China Academy of Sciences. Sichuan University has a long history of running a school and has a long-term excellent teaching style and study style. Chengdu Document Information Center of Chinese Academy of Sciences has first-class scientific research talents and first-class scientific research conditions. The two institutions jointly run schools and have complementary advantages. Postgraduates can make full use of the software resources and hardware resources of the two universities, thus organically combining good teaching and scientific research advantages with advanced modern equipment into their study and training.
