Children's books are dazzling, how to make children fall in love with reading?
Southeast Network April 1 (Shishi Daily reporter Lin Chunkai) April 2 every year is "International Children's Book Day". This is a special festival 51years ago, not only to commemorate the Danish fairy tale master Andersen, because this day is his birthday, but also to arouse people's attention to children's books and children's reading through this festival. On the occasion of "International Children's Book Day", the reporter conducted a survey on children's reading and children's books in shishi city. Judging from the understanding, there are many children's books in schools, libraries and citizens' homes. However, not every child loves reading because of this.
There are many children's books, but no books to read.
On the morning of March 30th, in the borrowing area on the first floor of shishi city Linwen Library, a parent was reading a book with her two-year-old child. The parent told reporters that there are many children's books in the library, and as long as she has time, she will bring her children here to read. During the exchange, she told reporters that children are young and don't talk much, but they still like books, especially some colorful children's books about animals and plants. In fact, she also bought many children's books for her children, but after reading these books once or twice, the children no longer like to read them.
In this lending area, the reporter saw a variety of children's books on the bookshelf for children of different ages to borrow. The reporter randomly turned out several books and found that many "popular books" have been borrowed many times. Although they look old, they are well preserved. These "popular books" include some literacy, stories, popular science, comics and so on. A parent who is helping children borrow books told reporters that every time he comes to the library to borrow books, he likes to "search for old books". In his view, the "old books" in the library are books that are borrowed more frequently and are more popular with children.
In shishi city No.3 Experimental Kindergarten, the reporter saw that the library on the second floor of the kindergarten was also filled with all kinds of children's books, and some children who had just finished lunch were reading their favorite books. The director of the park told reporters that there are 20,000 to 30,000 children's books in the park. Besides this library, there are some children's books in each class. The park director attaches great importance to reading. She hopes to provide children with as many books as possible, so that children can learn knowledge from reading and grow up healthily and happily.
"Compared with before, there are too many children's books now." Ms. Chen, a citizen, told the reporter that her daughter went to the kindergarten middle class. There was a book corner in the class and there were more than 200 children's books. Almost every month, she takes her daughter to the bookstore to buy books. Over the years, my daughter's books have been on the shelves at home. Compared with childhood, she feels that children are so happy, there are so many books, and there is no worries when reading them. "What books did we read when we were young? Going to a classmate's house to play, I found that there were books that I didn't read, and I would try to borrow them back. " Ms. Chen said that when she told her daughter about borrowing books, her daughter asked her strangely, "Why didn't she go to the bookstore to buy it herself?" As for her explanation of the lack of books at that time, her daughter naturally found it difficult to understand.
Why are there so many books?
But you don't necessarily like it?
Children who don't worry about books don't necessarily like reading. The reporter learned from the communication with some parents and kindergarten teachers that although there are many children's books at home and school, some children don't like reading.
Ms. Zhang, who teaches in kindergarten, told reporters that she once met a child who didn't like reading very much. A few times, she also tore off the pages and folded things in the corner of the class book. Later, after chatting with parents, she realized that parents bought many books for their children to read more, but for some reason, children didn't like reading, just used books as toys, stacked them together to play, or tore them up as origami. Through communication with children and their parents, she thinks that the reason may be that many books bought by parents in the early days have too many words, and children don't like reading. Slowly, children gradually lose interest in reading.
Ms. Zhang told reporters that in the kindergarten classes she teaches, most children prefer reading, but some children in each class don't like reading, or there are few kinds of books they are interested in. Some children pick up a book and turn over a few pages casually, then put it down to play with other things; Others read books, have their favorite patterns, animals, cartoon characters and so on. If there is, they will watch it for a while. If not, they will throw the book aside.
Speaking of children studying, Mr. Xu, a citizen, is a little upset. He told reporters that when his son was two or three years old, he read with relish. Now that children are in large classes in kindergarten, their interest in books is gradually weakening. More attention began to turn to electronic products, such as playing mobile phones, playing computers and watching TV. And his focus is mostly on some cartoons, movies and games. In a rage, he limited the time for children to use computers and mobile phones. Children often go to other people's homes to play mobile phones and watch TV on the grounds of visiting relatives and classmates. In order to divert children's attention and make them like reading, he specially took them to bookstores and libraries to read books, but the children either looked for some books about games or absently held books and found various reasons to leave after a few minutes.
In fact, the reporter noticed in the interview that many parents have the same distress as Mr. Xu. In front of mobile phones, computers and televisions, children almost put down their books and turned to games, cartoons and other content in electronic products. Some parents are furious about this, hoping that their children will spend more time reading at ordinary times, but it has little effect.
"Parent-child reading" is highly respected.
So, how can parents make their children like reading at an early age? In this regard, the person in charge of the Third Experimental Kindergarten in the city believes that parents should attach importance to "parent-child reading" and create a good reading atmosphere by accompanying their children to study, so that children can enjoy reading in a subtle way. The person in charge suggested that for young children, parents can read books with their children and give some simple explanations and introductions to the words and pictures in the book. For children who are a little older and can read independently, parents can take a book and sit with their children to read, or read a book with their children to exchange reading feelings.
For "parent-child reading", many citizens highly admire it.
Mr. Wu told reporters that her daughter likes reading very much and reads a wide range of books. He believes that this is related to the good atmosphere of "parent-child reading" in their family. According to him, before his daughter went to kindergarten, he often read children's books with his children after work at night, and often asked his daughter to explain the contents of the books he read. When his daughter grows up, he often looks through the books she reads and talks with her about some of them.
Mr. Lin, who works in an office, also told reporters that he and his children participated in the "Hundred Days Reading" activity held in shishi city the year before last. Every night, he sits with his children and reads books, and sometimes they share their reading experience. Since then, children have gradually got rid of the habit of "playing mobile phone for a while before going to bed" and replaced it with "reading books for a while before going to bed".
Of course, in addition to "parent-child reading", some teachers remind parents that the quality of books in the children's book market is mixed and the types of books are varied. Parents should be targeted when buying books. They should choose books that suit their children's age and psychological characteristics. When buying, they don't necessarily choose hardcover books, and the quantity of each purchase should not be too much. Sometimes, children with fewer books may read them repeatedly and may benefit more. In the choice of books, for one or two-year-old children, you can choose some books with simple lines and less complicated pictures; For two or three-year-old children, you can choose some books with larger fonts, more patterns and contents closer to daily life; For kindergarten children, because their understanding ability has been enhanced a lot, they can choose some illustrated books such as fairy tales and classic legends, and appropriately increase some books on popular science and knowledge. As for older children, because they have the ability to read independently, they can choose their own books, and parents can provide reference opinions.
How to make children's books "move"?
A citizen surnamed Cai has three bookshelves at home. Almost all the books on the two shelves are books he bought for children, and many of them are covered with dust. The citizen told reporters that many of them are children's books, beautifully printed, but the content is very simple. When the child grows up, he has "dismissed" such books, but he feels it is a pity to throw them away directly and can only give some to the children of relatives and friends.
The reporter learned in the interview that similar phenomena are not uncommon. Parents are very willing to invest in books for their children. They are not only responsive to children's books, but also often take the initiative to buy them, so that everyone has a lot of children's books. Unfortunately, however, most of these children's books are "disposable products". After watching it once or twice, the children are shelved or abandoned in the corner of the room, becoming a pile of things that are "thrown away but occupy space".
Can children's books "move" and make the best use of them? During the interview, some teachers and parents suggested that on the one hand, parents or schools can organize activities such as "book exchange", charity sale and donation to make these children's books "move". In recent years, some kindergartens and primary schools in shishi city have also carried out such activities, and the effect is quite good; On the other hand, relevant departments or social organizations can organize "children's books recycling" activities, collect idle children's books in the homes of the general public through low-cost recycling or donation, and then make the best use of these children's books by borrowing, exchanging books and selling them at low prices.
