Introduction to medicinal fungi
Fungi used as medicines to treat diseases. In the metabolic activities of growth and development, enzymes, protein, fatty acids, amino acids, peptides, polysaccharides (see carbohydrates), alkaloids, sterols, terpenoids, glycosides, vitamins and other substances with pharmacological activities or inhibitory or therapeutic effects on human diseases can be produced in mycelium, sclerotium or fruiting body, or effective substances isolated from bacteria can be used clinically.
