Focusing on the work of the school teaching center, the library establishes the service concept of people-oriented and educating people with books, adheres to the service tenet of reader first and service first, and adheres to the cultural spirit of knowledgeable and polite library. At the same time, it plays an important role in the construction of spiritual civilization. The library adheres to Scientific Outlook on Development, effectively collects documents, optimizes resource allocation, pays attention to development and utilization, and develops in a sustained and coordinated way. By the end of 2005, the library had a total of 800,000 books (including the books in the reference room), more than 235,500 electronic books and 3 electronic databases100 in Chinese and foreign languages. Focusing on the collection of mechanical engineering, materials and metalworking documents, the library develops and builds a characteristic database, including heavy machinery and major technical equipment disciplines, and collects and integrates library resources, electronic literature resources and network information resources to realize multi-language and multi-type full-text document cross-database retrieval and personalized service requirements.
The library has 50 employees. There are 9 senior titles and 3 intermediate titles/kloc-0. There are 4 people with master's degrees, 35 people with bachelor's degrees and 8 people with college education, making a total of 47 people with college education or above. The library took the lead in piloting the second-level management reform in the whole school. According to the needs of modern library construction and development, we should integrate resources, optimize services, establish a streamlined and efficient management service system, set up four offices, namely, resource construction department, reader service department, information technology department and comprehensive management department, and implement a two-level office management system of responsibility-preparation-subsidy. All departments and offices shall, according to the needs of their work, implement the full employment system and post management system; Implement a comprehensive quantitative management and assessment reward and punishment system.
The library is open for free continuously. The reading room is open for 98 hours every week, and the study room is open for 1 12 hours. Provide full open shelves (all books are open shelves) and all directions (study, rest, activities, etc.). ), multi-functional (literature retrieval, reading, borrowing, special services, information exchange, conferences, exhibitions, etc. ), and high efficiency (automatic management and quick access to information network resources).
The library information network system has advanced equipment and complete service functions. Application systems such as business management system, office automation system, resource integration full-text retrieval system, VOD on demand system, digital processing and publishing system have been introduced and developed, and readers' online recommendation and purchase of books, standardized cataloging of books, automatic management of readers' borrowing, subject navigation and document information transmission, integrated publishing of network resources, document retrieval and topic selection services and inter-library interaction have been realized. The development goal of the library in the 11th Five-Year Plan is to strengthen scientific management and cadre team building based on the goal of modern library construction, establish and standardize the collection system, service function and management mechanism that meet the needs of school construction and development, and build the library into a document information service center with advanced management means, efficient document guarantee, information network support and remarkable service effect.
