History of Jiangnan Library
1907, Duan Fang, Governor of Liangjiang, decided to establish Jiangnan Library in the former site of the Academy, with Miao as the general manager.

1910 officially opened in August, which is the first public library in China.

After the Revolution of 1911, Jiangnan Library changed its name several times with the change of political situation: first, it merged with Jiangsu Tongzhi Bureau, and 19 12 was renamed Jiangnan Bookstore;

1965438+In July 2003, it was renamed Jiangsu Provincial Library;

19 19, Suzhou jigutang was changed to the second library of Jiangsu province, so it was changed to the first library of Jiangsu province in turn;

1927 In September, Jiangsu Province implemented the university district system, and the Fourth Sun Yat-sen University was in charge of the cultural and educational work in Jiangsu Province, so it was renamed the National Studies Library of the Fourth Sun Yat-sen University.

1928 In February, the Fourth Sun Yat-sen University was renamed Jiangsu University and later Central University, and the library was renamed National Central University Library.

It was not until June 1929 that independence was restored, and the library was renamed as Jiangsu Guoli Science Library. The name remained in use until the early days of liberation.

On June 1952 10 1, the National Nanjing Library and the Library of Jiangsu Guo Li University merged into the Special Collection Department of Nanjing Library.
