Conceptual Operation of Boston Public Library
There are two stone lion statues on the stairs, which adds to the sacredness and solemnity here.

The operation of Boston Public Library cannot be separated from the support of many peripheral organizations. These peripheral organizations provide financial, organizational activities and personnel support to help public libraries establish an important position in today's social life. The three most important organizations are:

1. Boston Public Library Association.

This is a community-based library alliance dedicated to expanding the role of public libraries in community cultural life. In the past 30 years, it has been the initiator and undertaker of many activities.

Second, the Boston Public Library Foundation.

The foundation was founded in 1992 by entrepreneur John Cullinane. At present, there are 70 board members representing Boston business and community. The foundation raised a lot of money for the Boston Public Library, and raised $24 million in August 1992- 1998.

From August 65438 to 2002, it raised another 26 million yuan, which greatly expanded the role of Boston Public Library in social life. The funds raised are mainly used in four aspects: completing the repair and restoration of McKinley Tower, a historic building in Cooperley Square; Update the infrastructure and service projects of 27 branches, especially the children and family plan (see the description for specific projects); Improve the utilization rate of library resources through first-class technology; Maintain and protect the characteristic book resources of the library and establish an electronic catalogue.

Third, Friends of Boston Public Library.

Founded in 1987, the organization aims to let the public know about the public library system and its resources, improve the value of libraries as cultural and educational resources, support and contact the activities of public library groups, and encourage volunteers to support library activities, such as coordinating member groups, arranging book sales lists, storing member information, developing and recognizing members, maintaining member databases, and developing community outreach projects.

The organization has carried out the following projects

Friends of the Library Forum, sending news information;

* Book sales four times a year. Community residents take their books to the public library to sell, and all the sales income goes to the library, which is equivalent to another form of donation;

* ESL project started at 1992.
