"Firefly Project" was founded in May 2005 by the Student Volunteer Branch of Shenzhen University Volunteers Federation. In recent years, it has received strong support from the Youth League Committee of Shenzhen University, Shenzhen Nanshan Volunteers Union and Lezhu Association. With the aim of "helping energetic students and spreading hope", fireflies carry out voluntary teaching activities in schools in mountainous areas (Guizhou, Jiangxi, Gansu, Yunnan, Sichuan, Jiexi, Gaozhou, Zhaoqing and Heyuan). ) not only brings knowledge and joy to children, but also provides a good opportunity for Shenzhen college students.

"Firefly Project" includes "Firefly Teaching", "Firefly Library Project", usual photo exhibition, DV exhibition, presentation and exchange meeting of fireflies, and activities such as "Firefly Fund" and "Firefly Campus Tour Presentation" which are being prepared. Now, the "Firefly Project" has entered its fourth year and is in the growth stage. From the initial start to the present development, the firefly teaching team has grown to more than 500 people, which has attracted much attention and welcome in the school and gained recognition and appreciation in the society.

Fireflies are small, but they can shine in the dark. We hope to bring a little light to mountain children who are eager for knowledge like fireflies, and we also hope that more people will join the ranks of fireflies and let their light illuminate more and farther places.
