Thoughts on reading Yu Debei's prose
Zhu Jing

In the mid-1990s, I met Debye at a seminar about the old writer Xu Xing. At that time, Xu Xing's short stories had attracted national attention. Xu Hang told me that our Yu Debei is a great descendant. Later, I learned that Yu Debei published a large number of works in succession, involving novels, essays and poems. Children's literature and science fiction literature both performed well. The most outstanding achievement is short stories-in 2007, she won the Golden finch Award for the third China Short Story, in 2009, she won the Bingxin Book Award for Beautiful Dreams, and in 20 15, she was selected as an excellent short story.

I have recently read two collections of short stories (66 pieces) by Debei, Autumn Night and The Other Side of the World, and seven works published in Selected Works of Jilin Literature and Book of the World. I really feel refreshed and mentally shocked. Write down the feeling of reading here.

Short-lived Love: Poetic and Brilliant Life

Blessing is a sketch of three people in a small street in the early morning: a lame woman with fried fruit, a mute sweeping the street, and a little girl with a golden bell. The lame woman's husband died in a car accident three years ago and made a living by frying fruit early; The dumb sanitation worker is the first customer of the booth every day. He likes playing the harmonica. Play Honghu Red Guards when you are happy and Flying Tigers when you are depressed. In primary school, the golden bell with red pants and short hair helped her mother run on Sunday, and she was also a close friend of the mute, pestering him to play the harmonica. "I hope we can live together" surprised two adults. Seeing this scene, people on the roadside said, "The life of this family of three is really good." Or misunderstanding or expectation, "Maybe they are waiting"-waiting for happiness. The Good Man is about a university teacher observing a young man selling fruit at the school gate. "He never loses two pounds", but he is "too stingy" and "keeps changing apples" to level the scale. He only gives his three-year-old son an apple every day. I found some children's books for his son. He returned with a big bag of fruit. "I" didn't accept it, but took a taxi and followed the bus to the teacher's house. One day, "I" saw this scene in the snack bar outside the door: he stuffed some apples into the arms of a country boy who was next to his mentally retarded mother. "Good people!" The shopkeeper who has seen this situation many times lamented. Ordinary people's trivial matters are nuanced, just as the novel says: "Look at the back of his cart, the sun is shining and it makes people feel warm."

San Xiao, like a prose poem, is completely another kind of emotional appeal. He went to Suzhou by boat from Hangzhou. "The night wind is blowing from the canal, with some fishy smell." Fireworks In March, tung flowers were all over the trees, and I walked into the "Yiyuan Garden". I saw a girl carrying water by the well, and her blue shirt was floating in the wind, which made me unable to stop "him" from lifting the camera. The girl asked him why he took pictures, and he said, "Bamboo wind, the wind blown by bamboo wind." The girl "covered her mouth and smiled". Walking into the teahouse, the girl turned out to be the "tea girl" here. She brought him a cup of fresh tea, and he unconsciously read the inscription on the pavilion outside the window: "The owner is a good friend of bamboo, and the bamboo companion is not alone ..." The girl whispered back: "It's wonderful to sit quietly in the audience, and the swimming pool suits me very well." Say that finish "she smiled", carrying a pot to go out. Several tea-drinking elders in the same room also turned to recite poems and sang together. At this point, the novel shows respect for tourists: "He only wore a pair of glasses and left a big beard on his chest that year" and "He was dressed loosely and covered in dust". Although Suzhou women only give two smiles instead of "San Xiao", "but a southern girl smiles kindly at a northern man" is not a beautiful youthful memory of southern spring!

Xiaoyun, a distant cousin in the countryside, is pure and fragrant. She brought a bag of green plums to my sick "me", and the sour taste "made my whole body wet"; On the moon, my little cousin has a crush on the girl in the pink shirt. Speaking of her, "the red scarf, the yellow moon is like a poem"-like San Xiao, all exude the warmth of life. Of course, the most wonderful work of its kind is Hangzhou Road 10. This short story, called a "contemporary classic", condenses a story with deep passion in life into a short story of fish and geese reciprocating. The beauty of the novel has several points: First, the story begins with a prank. Boring days gave me a whim: I wrote a letter to the girl named Yuan Xiaoxue at Hangzhou Road 10, and even lied that I "lost my legs and hands". The second is the suspense and turning point of the plot. I didn't expect "Hangzhou Road 10" to reply. It's really "Melissa Zhou". I write it once a month. The letter was short and beautifully written, and I sent two books. I was shocked at first, then blamed myself and felt uneasy. I don't think I should cheat this kind girl. The third is to uncover the truth and strengthen the beam. Four months later, the introspective "I" decided to visit "Yuan Xiaoxue". At Hangzhou Road 10, an old lady introduced me to a study: Luo Hansha, a professor of disabled psychology, died of bone cancer more than two months ago. The novel says, "My blood is getting cold, which is a sign of death"-meaning that the protagonist will undergo a rebirth-like transformation.

The poetry and brilliance of life are the main concerns in northern Germany. This kind of works, instead of writing about major events, choose more life segments, make the finishing point with simple characters, win with affection, environment and emotion, and convey rich human beauty in plain relationships and scenes.

White clouds and pale dogs: the bitterness and impermanence of fate

Yu Debei did not ignore the hardships and twists and turns of life. Some of his stories are full of bitterness and impermanence of fate.

Autumn night is an outing in late autumn. At the home of a peasant poet in Tumenling, three friends were eating potatoes, drinking wine and reciting poems. In front of the bonfire in the field, after reciting Pushkin's To the Sea, Wei Jia stared at the fire with tears: "I hate fire so much, and now I suddenly find that I love fire so much!" "The mystery of the novel lies in" supplement ":Wei Jia is the captain and poet of the district fire squadron, who died in a fire after demobilization. Not long ago, Lao Li called and said, "It's autumn harvest again. If only Jia Wei were alive, we could light another bonfire. " After listening to his words, "I cried", the tone of the work turned sharply. It also describes people's lives, as well as Friends. "I" won the prize and the prize money was distributed among three friends. The remaining ten dollars are for the editor to eat. At this time, Lao Pi, who is about to graduate from geological school, came and asked me to borrow money from his hometown in the countryside.

-"I wish I had come earlier." I put ten yuan in my pocket. It was soon learned that Lao Pi jumped off the train and died without a ticket to avoid the police. The fare is 70 cents in 9 yuan. I feel that I owe Lao Pi a debt that I can't pay off. I took out a ten-dollar bill (which the editor spent on dinner that day) and struck a match. ...

This kind of emotional dislocation or regret sometimes happens between relatives. "I" have diabetes, and my mother is most anxious and distressed. She urged "me" for injections several times and took pains to ask about "remedies" everywhere. Li Yi, a neighbor, was asked for remedies three times and asked her grandson to buy "pig ear" beans several times a day ... People thought she was "confused". But "there is a bitterness in my heart that will never be erased." The novel is based on the proposition of insulin, which actually means that maternal love is insulin that "I" can never live without. "Father's Day Gift" begins with "I have no job after being laid off, and my heart is" indifferent and indifferent ". On Father's Day, my son who went to high school saved the car money in 30 yuan: 15 yuan gave it to his father, 15 yuan gave it to his grandfather. "I" happily used this money to buy two bottles of "Dexing" wine and ran to my father. Who knows that the old man gave up drinking, it was the day when "I" was laid off a month ago-"My heart suddenly tightened!" A festival has become a tragicomedy of three generations.

In Yu Debei's Genealogy of People's Fate, there is a man who is proud of the spring breeze but has accomplished nothing: he went to Qiqihar as a construction worker and was cheated by a "distant uncle"; Looking for a small restaurant to do odd jobs, the boss despises it; If you can't learn to sing, you won't be in the mood to write poetry; Fall in love with a girl and have no money to marry her; Buying a sports lottery ticket doesn't match the number ... (Deep) There are also "beautiful sisters" who throw away their youth in vain: the Lin Provincial Association for Science and Technology and a "beautiful sister" who loves the Provincial Archives Bureau, but they are rejected by "innocent eyes" and called "smelly hooligans". Lin had to get married and have children and forget about her. At a party 20 years later, I learned that the name of "beautiful sister" was Pang Min, and that "wrinkles have appeared in the corner of her eyes and her hair on her temples is a little gray", and she is still unmarried. Lin was about to propose a toast to her when she suddenly spit out three words: "smelly rascal!" " "(Instantly) Chrysanthemum in Daisy, like Pang Min, didn't wait for the arrival of marriage, and finally left people with sadness and sadness. Ju is my boarding high school classmate. She looks like a girl I have a crush on in junior high school. They once had the experience of pure skin embracing each other. In order to protect her, "I" was injured, and she went to the hospital to see me with a daisy. After graduating from high school, Ju dropped out of school and went back to her hometown to plant flowers. "I entered the university" and received her express daisy every birthday. Twenty years later, she was in the advanced stage of bone cancer. At her request, "I" sent her a bunch of daisies with deep love and pain. ...

Derby and other works have a long time span and pay attention to details. The plot focuses on the accidental or ups and downs of the fate of the characters. Whether it is changing or not, it is permeated with some bitterness of life, and daily details often condense or represent the meaning of life mixed with sadness and sorrow.

Strange people and strange ideas

"Hajj" originally tells the story of visiting a famous literary writer in Beijing, but the memory stays on seven Henan men in the shelter guest house. Those seven, Pingdingshan miners, didn't do much, only when "I" was drunk and lost my clothes and money-I paid the room and board and walked 70 yuan. Let "I" deeply feel: "How did people live so simply and cleanly at that time?" Horse Hanging is about benevolence and righteousness. Old Meng, a famous doctor in Yushu, died, and people praised his benevolence and righteousness. There was a three-year-old red horse in the funeral procession for him. So the old horse of the Syrian production team was dystocia, and Mr. Meng gave charcoal in the snow to "save the mother and son"; Besides, for more than ten years, Red Horse insisted on sending firewood to the Meng family alone in winter until he died of illness and was buried next to Mr. Meng's grave. The structure of story decomposition and compound, and the brushstrokes interspersed with reality and memory enrich the level and rhythm of the novel.

Durbeyfield has a keen observation of women's experience. The strangeness of these stories contains great tragedies. Miao in Tianya is the study committee member of my junior middle school class, and her face is "like an apple with eyes". She accompanied me to the zoo to see snakes, stuffed me with a pack of cigarettes and advised me to go home. Two years later, I heard that Miao committed suicide in front of the snake house, and then her father died and her mother went crazy. Waste in vain is about the strange marriage of a distant aunt. Aunt went to the shop early in the morning to play pig grass, and was raped by Wang Sheng in the same village. Wang Sheng turned himself in and spent seven years in prison. My aunt is crazy. She has been making shoes for seven years, without crying or making trouble. After Wang Sheng served his sentence, his aunt took him home to get married. They didn't speak and were in different beds. Later, Wang Sheng got cancer, and his menstruation "waited on him until his death". Three years later, she also died, "buried alone in Nanliang". This rope is a bit ridiculous. There is a grocery store opened by pockmarked in Xiaowen town. A woman bought a rope and hanged herself. Asako bought the rope at a high price and advertised: If you want to commit suicide, you can rent this rope. This rope has become a tool for women in small towns to fight against their fate, and the small shop has also made a fortune by renting it for many times. Men are angry, and the government can't help it. Finally, the mayor's wife rented it, strangled the mayor's concubine, and the rope was taken back, and what goes around comes around. Some readers may want to ask why these women died. Apart from the limitation of genre, life is fragile, and some disasters are hard to know. Just as light and happiness are the keynote of life, gloom and pain are always there, which belongs to the eternal secret of human nature.

More imaginative are despair and mirrors. The former is the adventure of Grandpa Xiaowen. The forest wetland near the village is the spring and autumn habitat of geese. Villagers hunt birds in succession, and grandpa's family believes in Buddhism, and they don't eat birds without hurting them. Grandpa 12 years old, met a lonely goose. He tried to form wings and led the geese to fly south. People don't believe his story. Grandpa was desperate and silent. He disappeared every autumn, came back the next spring, and never came back after many years. The latter is Xiaowen's own trouble. Xiaowen made a fortune in business, but soon fell into disillusionment. Ambitious, he hit a toad with a stone on the ridge of the field. Then outsiders can't see it-he "turned into a toad" in the mirror. One day, toad told him a "secret" in his dream: "People, sometimes it is easier to commit suicide."

Dai Fugu, a poet in the Song Dynasty, said: "If you want to participate in poetry, it is like participating in Zen, and the fun can't be conveyed by words. I am a little concerned and enlightened, and I am detached from the text. " Tang Xianzu, an Amin, said: "The beauty of an article does not lie in the similarity of steps and shapes. Natural aura, trance, unexpected. Strange, indescribable and extraordinary things can be combined. " Strange thinking and wonderful understanding mark the free state of creation. Adding absurd changes to the plot greatly deepens the theme and implication of short stories, and also promotes Yu Debei's works to a brand-new realm. The surreal brushwork of grandpa changing into a bird and xiaowen changing into a toad hides loneliness, rebellion and alienation, and has a subtle sense of justice, which is extremely concise and sharply hints at the survival dilemma of modern people.

Wang Meng believes that "short stories are the most direct test of writers' life experience and their artistic ability to feel life." Short stories test D 'Urberville's accomplishment and taste, which shows his mind and talent.

"My wife asked me, where is your goal? I replied, on the ground, in the dirt. She looked at me with a smile, like a flowering plant ... I wrote my love, I wrote my tears, I wrote my thoughts, I wrote my smile, even though life was bumpy and my fate was ill-fated, I always told myself: Live, remember! " Yu Debei's soliloquy tells the true meaning of his creation.
