Zhejiang University of Technology belongs to a university and is a comprehensive key university in Zhejiang Province. Founded in 1953, its predecessor can be traced back to Zhejiang secondary technical school, founded in 19 10. It has experienced the development stages of Hangzhou School of Chemical Technology, Zhejiang Institute of Chemical Technology, Zhejiang Institute of Chemical Technology, Zhejiang Institute of Technology and Zhejiang University of Technology.

Zhejiang Economic Management Cadre College, Hangzhou Shipbuilding Industry School and Zhejiang Building Materials Industry School were merged into Zhejiang University of Technology on 1994, 1999 and 200/kloc-0 respectively.
