How to convert the format of e-books
1.TXT I personally think this format is the best format for e-books. No matter what kind of hardware you use to read e-books, this format of e-books is the easiest to convert. The ultimate goal of my conversion is to convert all kinds of e-books into TXT text files. Of course, many people may like web pages in order to have a directory format, which depends on personal habits. 2.HTML is the most popular format on the Internet. Hyperlink mode makes each chapter of the book look very comfortable. Just click on the chapter in the table of contents. You can open it directly with IE on PPC. I guess users of PPC should not hate this format. However, in front of PALM users, no software has supported this format perfectly for so many years. PALM users can only convert in various ways, or directly convert to TXT like me. Recently, I tried Webpro and found that this software can open HTML files, and the graphic connections inside can be used to do anything. But this software was too big and slow for PALM, so I finally deleted it. 3.EXE is also a common e-book format. Generally, e-books are made in this inconvenient editing format for copyright, but in many e-book websites, you can only find this format. This kind of e-book can be read directly on the PC, but you can't do anything on the handheld device. I seem to have heard that there is software on PPC that can directly read EXE and CHM. I hope there is a clear expert to explain it. ) 4.CHMHTML help file format seems to have been discovered by accident one day, but it is as annoying as EXE file and inconvenient to edit, so it can also be seen in many e-book websites. This format can also be read directly on the PC. 5.PDFADOBE's ADOBEACROBATREADER uses a special format. Because of its strong security, non-editable content, and most formats can be easily converted into PDF, it has become the preferred format for officials to publish documents on the Internet. More common are some manuals. At one time, many computer learning books on the Internet were in PDF file format. This format has a good effect of mixed layout of pictures and texts. Reading a book in a reader is just like reading a book, but it is quite difficult to perfectly convert pictures and words into other formats, and no better tools have been seen. English books in its format can be read after being converted by special software on PALM, but Chinese books are not supported at present. The biggest drawback of PDF documents is that they are very large. A book in TXT format may be only a few hundred K. If it becomes this format, it will be one trillion. 6.DOCMicrosoftWORD's proprietary format, of course, is to be opened in WORD. What WPS is compatible with, OPENOFFICE should be able to open it, but there may be some differences in typesetting or fonts. DOC can be easily converted into HTML and TXT. At most, some information in the format is lost, so it is more open. 7.PDB/PRC these two formats are unique to PDA, mainly used by PALM first, and then PPC also supports this format of e-books through related software. 8.8 format. CLF is not asked much, but some people still ask, so let's talk briefly here. This is the proprietary format of software LISTPRO. Since this software is available on PALM, PPC and PC, you can read it by installing this software on your own machine. As for the conversion of this format, it should be possible, but I am not familiar with it and will improve it in the future. 9. Other special formats, such as Superstar Electronic Library e-books, Founder Reader e-books, XREADER, etc. At present, it can only be used by the provided special readers and cannot be converted into other formats that are convenient for editing. (While writing, I found a software called UnEBook, which can convert the EBX format of XREADER into HTML. I tried it, and the effect was very good, and I conquered another format:) Among them, the file suffix of XREADER is generally EBX, and some readers directly package it into EXE files, and the file size is slightly larger than EBX format. The download location for readers is as follows: Com/soft/11659.html The book suffix of Superstar Electronic Library is generally PDG, and the download location for readers is as follows: Com/soft/553 1.html Here I add a point. In the process of writing this article, I learned some knowledge about PPC. At present, TXT, China PDB. CHM, DOC and other formats can be read perfectly, PDF is not perfect yet, and PALM is basically powerless to HTML, CHM and PDF (someone here will mention a software REPLIGO, which will be mentioned later). For DOC, there is DOCUMENTTOGO to support it now, but I always feel that it is unwilling to support it. Ok, now let me talk about how to convert all formats into TXT. First, CHM and EXE are considered as one type. Before these two formats, some "e-book companion" and "ChmDecompiler" softwares can be converted into TXT or HTML, but these softwares are only sensitive to EXEs made by some softwares, but cannot be solved by EXEs made by other softwares. Or when you see a certain format, you have to use some software to convert it, which is really troublesome. However, these problems are a thing of the past. The software TL-PDB written by GMX, the boss of TOMPDA, supports almost all files in EXE and CHM format (except the EXE package in XREADER format mentioned above). His interception method is different from other direct conversion, but it is very effective. After running TL-PDB, open a CHM or EXE. You can see that CLIPTOTL-PDB appears at the top of every page. Check the box in front, and all the words on this page will be automatically recorded in the interface of TL-PDB, and then saved as PDB or TXT, whichever you like. With this software, basically there will be no problem with CHM and EXE documents, but every page should be ticked. If this book has many pages, you will be very busy. But there are gains and losses, and it is worthwhile to do all this well. PDF, to be honest, I don't like this format very much. The file is extremely huge, which really hurts my users. Files are well protected. I have tried many PDF conversion software, but I am not satisfied. They either lost their pictures or didn't support Chinese. It is the software called PDF2HTML and PDF2TXT that I used a long time ago. The former is a program under WINDOWS and needs to be registered. Only 5 pages can be converted without registration, but the generated file is extremely huge, but the effect of converting into HTML is not bad. The latter is under DOS, which has a special command and can't specify the storage path, but it is very fast. If you only want words, it is still very suitable. HTML, this is not a problem to read on PPC and PC, but it is uncomfortable on PALM. One method is to use the PC side of HANDSTORY for conversion, select CLIPTOPALM from the right-click menu, and then open PALMDESKTOP for synchronization. Another method is to use software (TL-PDB also has this function) to convert HTML into TXT. For the latter method, there are two softwares that can be recommended, one is DREAMEDIT, the other is READBOOK, and the other is reading software. Both of them can convert merged HTML into TXT in batches, but the former sometimes reports an error when converting multiple HTML merges. Of course, I don't rule out the software version at hand; There are some problems in the conversion and preservation of the latter between complex and simple, and sometimes it is saved as garbled code. The highlight is PDB/ China, which is the most popular form of PDA. This is caused by the single file format of PALM, which is suffixed by PDB on PC. Because the generated software is different, different software is needed to read on PALM. There are several types of e-books on PALM. The types can be seen in LOOKPDB or TL-PDB, or in PALM's resource manager software: 1.text, the common format of e-books. Note that this format is not DOC used by WORD, and e-book software in this format can be read well. You can successfully read or convert PDB with any PC-side software, such as W***EPDB, DOCREADER, LOOKPDB and, of course, TL-PDB. 2.ZTXT, which is a compressed format, the file size is smaller than the standard DOC, and only a few softwares such as TIBRPRO support reading. If the memory of the machine you are using is small and the memory card can't be expanded, save it. You can use TL-PDB to open the e-book in this format and save it as TXT. 3.CLIP is a special format of HANDSTORY, which can only be read in HANDSTORY, and the desktop conversion of HANDSTORY is used. TL-PDB promised to support him in the next version. At present, there is no good reading method on PC, but recently a good software was found: dehsibxx.pdb, which can only run under DOS, put it in a directory together with the clip file to be converted, then enter this directory in DOS mode and run "dehsibxx.pdb(xx refers to the file name to be converted, it is better to use English file name, otherwise it is not convenient to convert)", so that the document of HANDSTORY can be converted into HTML. I don't have many editing formats, but the conversion is fast and the effect is good. I recommend it. 4.TOGO, a proprietary file format that can only be read by ISILO, is converted from ISILOX, the desktop of ISILO. ISILO can be read on PPC and PALM, and ISILOFORPC can open this PDB and save it as TXT. However, when you click on the link inside, you often report an error and quit. TL-PDB also promises to support it in the next version. We will wait and see. As for whether PPC fully supports these formats, since there are HANDSTORY and ISILO on PPC, I think all other formats should be supported except ZTXT.
