Four levels of cognition
"Look at all kinds of people around you. Although they are all varied, the industries are also varied, and their abilities and experiences are different. On the surface, it is difficult to compare and even more difficult to classify.

But everything in the world, only its existence, must have its laws, and people can't escape this law.

Two thousand years ago, the ancient Greeks carved "Know Yourself" on the doorpost of the Parthenon. The ancient Greeks believed that "knowing yourself" could make you wise and avoid misfortune.

Starting from this method, using the four-quadrant thinking tools commonly used in consultation, all people can be divided into four categories, as shown in the following figure. "

0 1

The first person: if you don't understand, you just don't know.

The so-called "ignorance and fearlessness", such people constitute the vast majority of the bottom of society.

If subdivided, it can be divided into:

1) Ignorance and contentment: such a person is the "diaosi" popular in previous years. Because they are ignorant, they can only make a living by selling their physical strength and time. The phenomenon of "diaosi" has now evolved into the phenomenon of "Sanhe Great God", which originated from an odd job market near Shenzhen, where the daily salary is 100 yuan, and odd jobs are played for three days a day, so it is called "Sanhe Great God".

The street next to Haixin's new talent market is full of migrant workers who come to "grab" wages and jobs. This is Sanhe labor market.

They sleep in Internet cafes, eat the cheapest bowl of noodle soup made in 5 yuan and play for three days a day. They don't know what will happen tomorrow, they don't know what to do if they are sick, and who will support them when they are old ... at least for now, they are ignorant and satisfied.

2) Ignorance but dissatisfaction: People who smashed Japanese cars a few years ago not only smashed the car, but also smashed the owner's head. People who have been busy painting dramas (high-end American TV dramas, Japanese TV dramas and Korean TV dramas) in their spare time these years envy others to travel overseas, but they have to stay at home without money ... There are many such friends around them.

They are ignorant and dissatisfied, but they are completely unwilling to try to change. The so-called best effort may be something like accidentally winning the sports lottery one day.

The similarity between these two kinds of people is that they are not only ignorant, but also ignorant of themselves. It sounds sad and pathetic, but this is the majority of people. Strangely, they don't feel ignorant and pitiful, but they also reject knowledge and learning. For those who are more knowledgeable than them, they either follow blindly or have a natural resistance (such as dislike or other factors). In short, they refuse to learn and have no intention of changing.

02

The second kind of people: know that they don't know.

Such people are still ignorant. But the biggest difference between them and the first kind of people is that they partially understand the fact that they are ignorant. Although this kind of person knows a little better than the first kind, it is also the most painful. Because they understand the fact that they are ignorant, but they can't find a good way to change it at the moment.

The first two kinds of people are the most common people in our lives, and the first kind has the most people. The reason is that the second kind of people often face great ideological pain, and because of this pain, they will be tempted by many scams and even gain.

In order to avoid this kind of pain, they may use various methods to anesthetize themselves. Alcohol, games and all addictive things are designed for this kind of pain. The second kind of people not only suffer, but also face the incomprehension and ridicule of the first kind of people, thinking that they are making much ado about nothing and thinking. So they are the hardest people to do.

03

The third kind of person: know that you know.

This kind of person is generally the second kind of person. After hard thinking, he finally gets a bright future and enlightenment.

Like the first kind of people, they should be happier. Because they can use their knowledge to realize their life ideals.

People who have accumulated rich experience in a certain field and are top-notch, so-called social elites and successful people are generally such people.

However, with the intensification of social competition and injustice, these people are also divided into two categories: 1) conscientious and 2) heartless ("hooligans", "exquisite self-interest" and "power first").

There is no clear line between conscienceless and conscientious. Some people have a conscience at some point. But at other times, it makes you see TA's selfishness, greed and lewdness. The so-called duality of human nature is more thorough and complicated.

04

The fourth kind of person: I don't understand that I know.

The so-called "I don't know what I know" means that this kind of person's knowledge structure is beyond the scope of his conscious cognition. He may have never been exposed to a certain field, but if you tell him something about this field, he will immediately infer the possible results for you, as if he had a lot of experience in this field. Even some things that have never happened in the world, he can predict.

The difference between this kind of people and the third kind of people is that the third kind of people are often top-notch in a certain field, know a lot and have great achievements, but they can't draw inferences from one another. If he changes his field a little, he may become the first or second person. The reason why the fourth kind of people can do this is not because they have accumulated rich experience in a certain field for a long time like the third kind, but because their knowledge structure is different from the previous one.

They have a strong ability to observe and perceive the surrounding environment and complex information. After a lot of observation, they can summarize and abstract some assumptions, and then use this assumption to deduce everything, deduce the phenomena of human society, and constantly use phenomena to verify these assumptions. Finally, they can sum up the general laws about the world and society. So on the surface, they don't know something specific, but because they can master the laws of the world, although they don't know, they already know.

Such people are rare in history. Because they have gone beyond what we see in our daily social activities and become enlightened people, and some even become immortals and immortals, which are immortal in history (such as Socrates, Plato, Jesus, Laozi, Sakyamuni, Gandhi, etc. People in previous lives may never see such people in their whole lives. But our time has given us such an opportunity.

Socrates

On the one hand, because of the development of economy, the prosperity of life, the popularization of education and the increase of opportunities, the whole China is facing a big explosion of ideas. There will probably be more and better thinkers in our present and future times than in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. On the other hand, because of the appearance of the Internet, we can get in touch with many valuable ideas more quickly.

The characters in "Heroes with Thousand Faces" I recently watched should belong to this category. Joseph campbell, the author, was praised as "his own spiritual mentor" by US President Barack Obama, and showed us how to enter the fourth category.

05

What kind of person do you want to be?

We may usually have a vague understanding of the realm of life. But now we know that people can have four realms, and we can use this kind of thinking to guide our lives. Most people are the first, a few are the second and a few are the third. Even if you can't do the fourth, you should at least understand your own life realm and then choose a direction to pursue.

Knowing that you don't know is the beginning of enlightenment. But few people can persist. On the road to becoming the third kind of person, most people shrink back. Once successful, life is completely another realm.

Finally, leave a small egg:

The stone pillar of the temple of Apollo in ancient Greece is engraved with "know yourself", and another proverb is engraved on the opposite stone pillar. These two famous sayings are regarded as the "Apollo Oracle" symbolizing the highest wisdom.
