From the origin, this major is actually the earliest undergraduate course of information science. In the early days, there was a science and technology information major in colleges and universities. In the 1990s, this major was gradually renamed as the science and technology information major, and by the end of the 1990s, it was designated as the information management and information system major. Now this major is management. In the actual undergraduate management, it is more and more divorced from the department where library science is located. Some universities, such as Peking University and Wuhan University, have an independent college, and the majors of information management and information system are also under the same college, so they are closely related.
Therefore, information management and information system are not the original library science. The courses taught by undergraduate students are very different from library science.
