The promotion of barrier-free films in Shanghai is at the forefront of the country. In 2009, the Municipal Disabled Persons' Federation, Shanghai Library and Shanghai Film Critics Association jointly established the first barrier-free film studio in China. In 20 12, the public welfare exhibition of barrier-free movies co-sponsored by the Oriental Broadcasting Center and the Municipal Disabled Persons' Federation was opened, and Shanghai Guotai Cinema was listed as the first barrier-free cinema in Shanghai.

Barrier-free movies are different from ordinary recording and editing. They mainly decompose the scene of the movie, and tell the picture information and the emotion and meaning behind it in a language that the visually impaired can understand between dialogue and sound.
