How to keep coins?
the administration of renminbi

Practice has proved that the management of RMB collection is better than that of stamps, which are more delicate and prone to mildew, yellowing, moth-eaten and long spots. If the coin has no adhesive, the printing process with high-grade paper is also very high, but if you don't pay attention, there will be problems such as coin breakage. According to my own practical experience and lessons, the author talks about some preliminary experiences.

The first step is sterilization. In the process of currency circulation, if you touch it, it will be contaminated with bacteria, sweat stains, water, dust and other dirty things. The collection must first disinfect and clean up the collected coins. The simplest and most effective sterilization method is ultraviolet disinfection. There are three types of ultraviolet lamps: 15W, 20W and 30W. Generally, 30-power ultraviolet lamp is used to sterilize coins, and the suitable irradiation temperature is 15 ~ 30 degrees. Irradiating 30 ~ 40 kinds of coins in a distance of 20 ~ 40 cm can sterilize and have a good effect. Where there is no ultraviolet light, coins can also be placed in the sun for 2 ~ 3 hours, and the purpose of sterilization and dehumidification can also be achieved.

The second step is plastic packaging. Put the sterilized coins into a standard plastic coin protection bag with tweezers, and then seal the plastic coin protection bag. The method is also very simple, as long as an ordinary low-power electrocautery wire and a ruler are enough. The electrocautery wire needs simple modification. Just file the hot thread into a small knife-edge shape. When in use, after the iron is heated, press the sealing mouth with a ruler, cross it with a hot wire, and cross off the redundant part. At the same time, the bag mouth will naturally seal at high temperature. For long-term preservation, coins can also be put into plastic coin protection bags and encapsulated like plastic photos. When you need to take it out later, you can cut it off at the edge with scissors, and then take out the coin with tweezers. Sealed coins can protect the appearance and will not be polluted by sweat, dust and so on.

The third step is to load the currency book. At present, there are many kinds of the third set of RMB books, so we should try to choose currency books with better quality, more kinds of coins and more exquisite design. After buying a coin book, put the plastic coins in the right place, which is economical, easy to manage and study appreciation, not only protects the appearance, but also can be stored for many years.

Step four, put it in the cupboard. Generally stored in some well-sealed containers such as Chinese fir boxes, iron boxes and safes. In order to prevent the collection from deteriorating, don't store it in this box. There should be a gap in the money book placed in the box, and attention should be paid to the way it is placed. It is not advisable to stack coins in case they are crushed.

Step five, add desiccant. After coins are put into the cabinet, attention should be paid to insect prevention, moisture prevention and mildew prevention. Insect control is mainly to prevent wingless insects from making holes in coins. Commonly used drugs are health balls, mothballs and carbon dioxide. Moisture-proof is mainly to seal the box for storing money books, and mildew-proof is mainly to use desiccant to adjust the humidity of the storage room. These effective measures are taken to protect coins. In addition, do maintenance measures. According to the seasonal changes, ventilation and drying every 2 ~ 3 months can ensure that the products are always shiny.

Collect coins and clean them skillfully.

At present, many collectors collect all kinds of metal coins, such as gold, silver, nickel-copper alloy, copper, steel core nickel, copper-zinc alloy, copper and so on. They always feel that many coins have been issued for a long time and circulated in the market, and their surfaces have been corroded to varying degrees, and all kinds of dirt and germs have gathered. Even coins that don't flow through will change color and oxidize, which greatly reduces the collection and ornamental value. According to the different degrees of coin fouling, this paper introduces several cleaning methods:

When the surface of the coin is oxidized, first soak the darker, darker and dirtier coins in boiling water, then squeeze some toothpaste on the surface of the coin, and then scrub it with a soft cloth for several times.

If the product quality is poor, the release time is long, and the surface of coins has been oxidized and rusted, you can soak coins (except aluminum coins) in vinegar for a few minutes, take them out, wash them with clear water, and rub them with a coin brush (made of glass fiber) several times, or you can remove impurities and dirt on their surfaces.

For all-quality and modern coins, there is only slight oxidation, dust, sweat stains, fingerprints and so on on the surface of coins. Use an eraser several times and the surface will be as bright as new.

If the surface of the coin has been oxidized and the dirt is serious, you can rub it with a coin brush to remove the dirt and oxide layer and restore the original appearance.

None of the above methods can remove coins with serious dirt and unclear patterns. You can soak it in dilute hydrochloric acid for a few minutes, then soak it in alkali for a few minutes, then wash it with clear water, and finally brush it with a coin for several times.

Put some sewing machine oil on the coins treated in the above way. After cleaning with a dry cloth, your collection will be completely new if you put it into the book in different categories.
