The research reading room is located on the first to fourth floors of the East Hall (Shaw Garden). Includes five reading rooms, namely, Chinese back issues reading room, Chinese books reading room, ancient books reading room, foreign books reading room and reference room.

The books and periodicals collected by this department are all sample books and periodicals of this library, which is the most complete and concentrated department in the whole library. Readers of this school enter the room with a "library card" Off-campus readers are required to enter the room with their work permit and ID card, and collect data access fees according to relevant regulations.

The research and reading department currently has 12 staff.
