China Library for Nationalities is the national center library for ethnic minorities. It is the collection, protection, research and exhibition center of China minority literature. It undertakes the important responsibility and mission of providing services for the national work and national cultural research institutions of the central state organs, and is a public welfare library open to the whole society. It was opened in September, 1959. It was originally the library of the National Cultural Palace. 1April, 1989, with the approval of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission and the Ministry of Culture of People's Republic of China (PRC), it was renamed China Library for Nationalities.
China Library for Nationalities is located in the garden-style courtyard of Beijing National Culture Palace, with an area of 4,500 square meters and nearly 100 reading seats. It is a rare closed stack room in China. At present, there are five departments: editing department, reading department, research and development department, ancient books collection department and digital resources and network technology department. At present, there are 34 staff members from Han nationality, Mongolian nationality, Hui nationality, Tibetan nationality, Uygur nationality, Miao nationality, Yi nationality, Korean nationality, Manchu nationality and Shui nationality.
