Comrade Jiping Liu (1908- 1987), a native of Shuangdian, Rudong County, Jiangsu Province, joined the China * * * Production Party in 1927, and was detained for many years by the reactionary Kuomintang authorities for revolutionary activities. After the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), he served as vice mayor of Shanghai, secretary of provincial party committees of Shandong and Anhui provinces, vice minister of education, director of Beijing Library, director of library society of china, consultant of Ministry of Culture, president of China Tao Xingzhi Research Association and member of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. He is a famous educator in modern China.
