The new Nanjing Library is located in the northeast of Daxing Palace in Nanjing, bordering the main urban landscape road of Zhongshan East Road in the south, Wenhua Street of Changjiang Road in the north, Taiping North Road in the west and the newly-built citizen square in the east. The Daxing Palace subway station of Metro Line 2, which is about to start, is close to the southwest corner of Nantu New Hall, and the traffic is particularly convenient. The new building covers an area of 25,200 square meters, divided into two floors underground and nine floors above ground, with a total design height of 4 1. 1m and a total construction area of 77,860 square meters. If you look down from the air, the new South Library is concave, which is the symbolic "hollow arc" module design of South Library. The "concave" section gradually expands from bottom to top, which is very spectacular. The facade of the roof and surrounding decoration is mainly made of steel structure and aluminum plate, and the "exterior decoration" is composed of pale yellow stone, pale white aluminum plate and sapphire green glass curtain wall, which makes the new museum fully display the elegant atmosphere of humanity in the modern and fashionable appearance.
The construction of the new museum began in 2002 with an investment of 400 million yuan. This unique and magnificent modern library covers an area of 25,200 square meters, with a building area of 77,900 square meters, with a designed collection of120,000 volumes and 3,000 reading seats. At present, the museum has an exhibition hall, a multi-function hall, an academic lecture hall, a relic exhibition area and a comprehensive service area of the Six Dynasties, a China newspaper reading room, a children's book lending room, a stationery store (new book exhibition area) and a book lending room for the visually impaired. The new library adopts building automation control system and library business management automation integrated system, which is more convenient for readers with the integrated service mode of "storing, borrowing and reading".
