Qinghai Salt Lake Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences is located in Xining, the capital of Qinghai. Qinghai Salt Lake College was established in March, 1965. Under the leadership of China chemist Liu Gang and geologist Yuan Jianqi, China Academy of Sciences conducted a series of exploration and research in Qaidam Basin.
