Xinjiang University, referred to as "Xinda", is located in Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. University history

The predecessor of Xinjiang University is Xinjiang College of Russian Politics and Law, which was founded in 1924.

1935 65438+ 10 was transferred to Xinjiang college.

1 960 65438+1October1,Xinjiang University was formally established. 65438-0978, the school was identified by the State Council as the only national key university in Xinjiang.

1997 was included in the first batch of "2 1 1 project" key universities in China.

In 2000, it was identified as a national key construction university for the development of the western region; In the same year, Xinjiang University merged with the former Xinjiang Institute of Technology to form a new Xinjiang University.

In 2004, the school became a "regional university" approved by the People's Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and the Ministry of Education.
