The library of West China Normal University is an ordinary university library, which was founded in 1946, and its predecessor was the private library of North Sichuan A&M College. 1949 65438+February, moved from Santai County, Sichuan Province to Nanchong City. The school was changed and renamed as the private library of North Sichuan University (1949 65438+February). Public Library of North Sichuan University (1July, 950); North Sichuan University Library (65438+September 0950); Sichuan Normal University Library (1952, 10), during which the former library of East Sichuan Institute of Education was merged, and some books from the former library of West China University and Sichuan University were received; Nanchong Teachers College Library (65438+August 0956); Nanchong Teachers College Library (1958165438+10); Sichuan Normal University Library (1989 65438+ 10); West China Normal University Library (April 2003). The existing building area of this library is 34,000 square meters (24,500 square meters in the new district library and 9,500 square meters in the old district library), with 3,500 reading seats. The library consists of editorial department, circulation department, reading department, periodical department, science and technology information room, automation department, teaching and research section and literature information retrieval course office. At present, there are 82 teaching and administrative staff (69 full-time employees, temporary workers 13), 5 full-time high school students (2 tutors for master students), 9 sub-high schools, 34 secondary vocational schools, and 2 junior and other personnel1person. Our library has set up two book lending offices and more than 10 reading rooms, and has carried out services such as circulation, reading, reference, information investigation, user education, novelty retrieval, thematic tracking, information retrieval and document reproduction, and received more than 2 million readers and users every year.

After more than 60 years of development, the library of China West Normal University has become a comprehensive library with rich collections, and it is also a document information center in northern Sichuan. Our library is not only rich in books, but also of high quality, especially for the books of key disciplines in the school. After long-term efforts, it has formed a collection of China history, China classical literature, China archaeology, zoology and botany, taking into account other disciplines. Large-scale series collections include: copy of Gesi Quanshu, Biezang, Siquan Shushu, Siku Quanshu Supplement, Siku Quanshu Supplement, Siku Quanshu Supplement, Siku Quanshu Supplement and Universal Library. Starting from 1997, the library began to build automation and networking, and successively purchased China HowNet full-text database, VIP Chinese sci-tech periodical database, Wanfang database, Superstar e-book database, academic search reading show, China basic ancient books database, Chemical Abstracts (CA), full-text periodical database in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, EBSCOhost database, CALIS western language periodical catalogue database, and Founder APABI electronic resources (. China rare mammal database, postgraduate thesis database, subject navigation database, Nanchong celebrity database, etc. We made it ourselves, and all the work is managed by computers.

In terms of large-scale series, category books and reference books, our library has also intensified its construction. Large reference books in Chinese and foreign languages include: chemical abstracts, physical abstracts, biological abstracts, psychological abstracts, mathematical reviews, physical reviews, zoological records, educational abstracts, compilation of Chinese national standards and large encyclopedias of China, the United States, Britain and the former Soviet Union. By the end of 20 10, our library had printed 3.27 million books (including 2.89 million books, more than 7,000 periodicals and newspapers, 380,000 bound volumes, more than 4,540 thread-bound volumes and more than 300 rare books). At the same time, there are 1.36 million kinds of e-books and more than 20,000 kinds of electronic periodicals, covering science, engineering, literature, history, philosophy, politics, economics, law and other disciplines. Rich collection resources can not only meet the literature information needs of teachers and students at different levels, but also provide strong support for the teaching and scientific research of the school.

The library of China West Normal University attaches great importance to basic work and library modernization, and has made some achievements in fulfilling the educational function, information service function and scientific research of university libraries. He has successively won the third prize of national scientific and technological progress 1 time, the second prize of provincial scientific and technological progress 1 time and the third prize twice.
