Kashgar University is a full-time undergraduate college sponsored by the People's Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. It is located in Kashgar, a famous historical and cultural city in China and an excellent tourist city in China. It is an engineering university for basic capacity building in universities in the central and western regions and a national 100 pilot university for transformation and development.

Kashi Teachers College
Kashgar University was formerly known as Kashgar Teachers College. 1962 in the first half of the year, the Party committee and people's government of the autonomous region adjusted the universities in the autonomous region and decided to merge the former Xinjiang Normal University and Xinjiang University, and transferred some teaching staff, books, materials, instruments and equipment from them to establish Kashgar Normal University in Xinjiang.
1In August, 978, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the school was upgraded to an undergraduate college, renamed Kashgar Teachers College, and began to undertake the task of training graduate students.
In June, 2002, Huazhong Normal University and Kashgar Teachers College signed the Agreement on Counterpart Support between Huazhong Normal University and Kashgar Teachers College in Beijing, which made Huazhong Normal University and Kashgar Teachers College become counterparts of the Ministry of Education's Counterpart Support for Universities in the Western Region earlier.
In June, 2003, after being examined by the State Council Academic Degrees Committee, the college obtained the qualification of authorized unit for master's degree and began to undertake the task of cultivating master's degree students. From its founding to the end of 1979, the college was the only normal college among the five universities in Xinjiang.
