How to learn coating knowledge
1. Paint is a substance coated on the surface of an object, which has decorative and protective effects. There are many kinds of coatings and their uses are extremely wide. Per capita annual paint consumption is an important indicator of a country's living standard. Coatings include paints, which are divided into water-based coatings and solvent-based (oily) coatings.

Solid content, also called nonvolatile content, refers to the amount of nonvolatile contained in paint, that is, the amount of dry paint film. Generally, it is expressed by the mass percentage of nonvolatile matter, and it can also be expressed by the volume percentage.

2. Latex paint is a kind of paint with petrochemical products as raw materials, emulsion as binder and water as dispersion. It has the characteristics of no environmental pollution, safety, non-toxicity, no fire danger, convenient construction, fast film drying, good light and color retention, good air permeability and so on. According to the use position, it can be divided into interior wall coatings and exterior wall coatings, and according to the gloss, it can be divided into low-light, semi-light and high-light coatings.

Top coat is the last coat in painting, which has decorative and protective effects. Such as color, luster, texture, etc. You also need to be resistant to harsh environments.

Paint is a kind of paint between primer and topcoat. Its main function is to improve the adhesion between topcoat and primer, and at the same time help to improve the hiding power and fullness of the whole coating. Some varieties, it can also play or provide special three-dimensional graphics on the surface, such as embossed paint.

The general function of primer is to promote the adhesion of topcoat and prevent the coating from penetrating into the substrate too much to affect the adhesion. The sealing primer provided by Japanese companies for the wall surface can not only increase the adhesion, but also seal the alkaline substances of the base material from penetrating to the upper layer and reduce the corrosion of the top coat.

6. 107 glue is a solution of polyvinyl formal, which has a certain viscosity (stickiness), but 107 glue is soluble in water. Therefore, the putty or wall coating simply mixed with white powder or talcum powder has poor water resistance and is easy to loosen or lose powder. The process of synthesizing 107 adhesive in some small enterprises is not up to standard, and the content of free formaldehyde is high, which is harmful to human health. Therefore, some big provinces and cities such as Beijing have banned the use of 107 glue in building systems.

7. The fineness of paint refers to the size or dispersion uniformity of particles such as pigments and bulk pigments in paint or slurry, expressed in microns. The fineness of paint will affect the physical and mechanical properties such as gloss and water permeability of paint film. Different varieties need different fineness.

8. The hardness of paint refers to the resistance of paint film to foreign bodies invading its surface. The hardness of paint film is one of the important properties of its mechanical strength. Generally speaking, the hardness of paint film is related to the composition and dryness of paint. For example, the more thoroughly the paint film is dried, the higher the hardness.

The gloss of paint film is a physical property, that is, the ability of paint film surface to reflect the light projected on it. The more reflected light, the higher the gloss. The gloss of paint film is an important index of decorative coatings.

9. The gloss of latex paint is determined by the gloss of the coating, and the gloss of the coating is measured by glossmeter at a fixed angle. For latex paint, gloss can be divided into the following grades: 60 gloss highlights >; 85 half light 40-60 eggshell light 10-20 flat light
