Table tennis diplomacy refers to the event that China invited the American table tennis team to visit China 197 1. 1971April 10, an American table tennis delegation and a small group of American journalists arrived in Beijing, becoming the first Americans allowed to enter China since 1949.
This move has had an impact on the breakthrough of Sino-US relations, and is called "small ball pushes big ball". The friendly exchanges between Chinese and American table tennis teams have promoted the normalization of Sino-American relations.
Commemorative activities of ping-pong diplomacy;
On March 27th, 2006, the "Sequoia Friendship Tour" was held in Beijing to celebrate the 35th anniversary of ping-pong diplomacy. A 25-member American table tennis delegation, including 6 visitors and the mother of the late athlete Cohen, was reunited with members of the China team and related personnel.
On June 9, 2008, a three-day ping-pong diplomatic commemoration was held at the richard milhous nixon Library and Memorial Hall in Balinda, California, USA. That year (197 1), Chinese and American table tennis team members met again and played a friendly match.
At 202 1,1,2 1 Beijing time, two pairs of Chinese and American mixed doubles players appeared at ITTF dinner to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Ping-Pong Diplomacy. They are Lin (China), (USA), (USA) and (China). These two pairs participated in the World Table Tennis Championships held in Houston.
