"Little Orange Lantern" is a prose written by Bing Xin, and it is one of his later masterpieces.
The article vividly depicts the image of a kind and strong peasant girl who longs for light in the difficult life adversity. The author starts from a small place and selects some ordinary things, such as a little girl making a phone call, looking after her mother, talking to me and making a small orange lamp to send me. From the surface to the inside, from the shallow to the deep, it vividly depicts the image of a poor rural girl who is precocious, strong, brave, optimistic, kind and full of inner beauty.
The lyrical words written by the author after narration are the crowning touch of the whole article, which deepens the theme and reveals the symbolic significance of the small orange lamp-a symbol of hope and fire hidden in the hearts of the people, a symbol of light.

The essay was published in China Youth Daily on June 5438+0957 65438+1October 3 1. This article was later selected as a Chinese textbook for middle schools.
When writing this article, Bing Xin thought of a past event on the eve of the Spring Festival twelve years ago (1945) and put it into this work as writing material. At that time, Bing Xin lived in Geleshan, a suburb of Chongqing. There is a medical college at the foot of the mountain, and several of its teachers and students are acquaintances of the author.
Not far from the mountain, there is a flat land called Lotus Pond. There is a township office by the pool. There is a public telephone upstairs, and there are some stalls selling fruits, peanuts and candy bars outside the door. All kinds of vehicles coming and going often stop there. Bing Xin decided to take this place as the background and unfold the story she wanted to write.
