Dongguan No.5 Senior High School was founded in August 2002. Formerly known as Dongguan Gaobu Middle School. In September, 2004, it was transformed from a complete middle school to a senior middle school. In March 2007, it was transformed from a town-owned school to a school directly under the city. In March 2009, it was renamed as Dongguan No.5 High School.

The school has a building area of 57,702 square meters, including multifunctional stairwells, computer rooms, language labs, physical and chemical laboratories, libraries and electronic reading rooms.
