The Basic Rules of Book Proofreading was formulated by China Publishers Association according to the rapid development of China's publishing industry. They are the product of the combination of proofreading theory and proofreading practice, the reflection of objective laws of proofreading and the summary of modern proofreading practice experience. The proofreading standards proposed in this specification focus on the national and macro levels. Proofreading committees and proofreading departments of local publishing houses may formulate "implementation rules" or "specific provisions" suitable for local cooperatives.
