/kloc-During the 1920s, the Hong Kong government developed Kowloon Tong in an attempt to develop the area into a low-density residential area. The area is mainly low-rise bungalows and contiguous villas, while retaining many trees, which are shaded by trees and have a suburban flavor.
1956, the Hong Kong Baptist College, which was built with land allocated by the Hong Kong government, started school. 1974, Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) set up a station in Kowloon Tong (now one of the subway stations) as a transfer station after the completion of the 1979 Kwun Tong Line.
Many streets in Kowloon Tong are named after counties or places in England, such as Cornwall in Cornwall Street, Senmarsh County in Senmarsh Road and Rutland County in Lavan Street.
