Deng Zhaoxiang memorabilia
Deng Zhaoxiang, 1903, was born in Gaoyao, Guangdong (now Zhaoqing). He has 12 brothers and sisters, ranking sixth.

19 14 years, Deng Zhaoxiang, age 1 1, recommended by Guangzhou police chief, falsely reported his age as 2 years old. After passing the English and math exams, he was amazed by the wonderful composition "National defense is the top priority of the navy" in the Chinese exam, and was successfully admitted to Huangpu Naval School 16 students. Since then, a long and tortuous naval career has begun.

Huangpu Naval School was built in 1877, with strict discipline and rigorous style of study, and trained a large number of naval talents. After completing the five-year course as required, Deng Zhaoxiang transferred to Wusong Naval School. After studying for three years and only one year, Wusong Naval Academy was closed due to lack of funds, and Deng Zhaoxiang went to Yantai Naval Academy again. L years later, he went to Nanjing Water Torpedo Gun School for further study. After 10 years of naval school life, Deng Zhaoxiang has mastered a variety of naval professional knowledge, such as navigation, guns, underwater weapons and so on. And gradually promoted from intern to deputy director and head of the department.

1929, the navy department of the national government decided to send overseas students to Britain in order to cultivate the professional skills and commanding talents of the navy. The first batch of international students (8 officers, 12 trainees) has only 20 places. After examination and selection, Deng Zhaoxiang, the major and vice captain of the Fourth Fleet of the Navy were selected. When he came to the Admiralty to report for duty, he learned that the number of officers was full and he was assigned to the position of trainee officer. Despite Kun, he decided not to give up this opportunity to study and went across the ocean to become an apprentice in the British Isles. He first went to school on an English ship, and then entered Greenwich Naval School to study the basic courses of command specialty. After a comprehensive examination, he entered the Royal Naval Academy as a top student. On the eve of the outbreak of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, Deng Zhaoxiang returned to China after studying in Britain for five years. He saw Japanese warships swaggering and rampaging on the Huangpu River. He wanted to fight to the death with the Japanese personally, but the Kuomintang government retreated step by step in passive defense. On the Jiangyin Waterway of the Yangtze River, China warships opened the bottom door and sank into the yellow and turbid river. In an instant, hundreds of ships were buried at the bottom of the river without firing a shot at the enemy. Deng Zhaoxiang was heartbroken. How much he wanted to be a naval soldier in China on the battlefield, but he had to leave the warship regarded as his life. The only thing that can comfort him a little is that he later served as the battalion commander of the naval torpedo battalion, leading soldiers to lay mines on the front line and preventing the Japanese army from going up the river.

From 65438 to 0942, Deng Zhaoxiang was transferred to Mawei Naval School in your son as the director of education. Living in the depths of the mountains in northern Guizhou, his mind is always surrounded by the sound of guns on the anti-Japanese front. One lesson he told the students was that during the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895, the Japanese showed us ships such as Zhenyuan and Jingyuan. In order to show off their achievements, the Japanese displayed Zhenyuan and Jingyuan iron anchors and anchor chains in Tokyo parks, which made overseas Chinese and China students feel ashamed. Deng Zhaoyang personally inscribed the plaque "Snow Wu Jia Shame" and hung it on the gate of the school library to encourage students not to forget the national humiliation and swear to drive away the enemy.

As a tutor, Deng Zhaoxiang regards students as friends, which is rare in the hierarchical old Shanghai school. Many naval cadets clearly remember that Deng Zhaoxiang often gave his allowance to those cadets whose families suffered from war. He has been wearing cloth shoes and vowed never to wear leather shoes until War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression wins. Decades later, his words and deeds are still engraved in the hearts of students. At that time, a student family was more difficult. When Deng Zhaoxiang learned this, he immediately took out five pieces of ocean, so that he could study at ease and serve his country. 1990, the student made a special trip from Taiwan Province Province back to the mainland to visit Deng Lao. He originally wanted to use 1000 dollars to thank him for his kindness, but he thought Deng Lao would definitely not accept it. Finally, he asked Deng Lao to put on his leather shoes and take a photo with him, and he was going to send the photos of Deng Lao wearing leather shoes to all his overseas classmates. 1February 25th, 949 is an unforgettable day for both the Kuomintang navy and the People's Navy of New China. On this day, the largest cruiser "Chongqing" of the Kuomintang navy revolted in Wusongkou, Shanghai, which shocked China and foreign countries.

The story goes like this: After War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression's victory, Deng Zhaoxiang was appointed as the captain of China's receiving fleet in Britain, responsible for training young students who were enlisted in the army. Later, as the captain of the cruiser "Chongqing", Deng Zhaoxiang led hundreds of officers and men back to Wusongkou from England. When Deng Zhaoxiang, who was full of ambition to serve his country, entered the country, he saw the American Stars and Stripes flying in the high-rise buildings on the Bund. The huge Huangpu River pier is open to foreign merchant ships and American warships, while China's "Chongqing" ship can only dock at the remote Gaochang Temple. After the ship "Chongguan" returned to China, it couldn't wait to put it into the civil war as a "trump card". However, with the successive victories of the People's Liberation Army, the Kuomintang army began to collapse in an all-round way, and the officers and men of the "Chongqing" ship became increasingly dissatisfied with the Kuomintang reactionaries. The underground party member on board and the progressive officers and men began to secretly connect in series, preparing for the uprising. 1949 On February 25th 1: 30, the "Soldiers' Liberation Committee" composed of 27 soldiers on board launched an uprising.

Deng Zhaoxiang did not know in advance the brewing of the lower officers and men. When the soldiers launched an uprising, he resolutely participated and personally commanded the navigation, which stabilized the mood of officers and men, boosted morale, ensured the safety of warships and made the uprising a success.

Chiang Kai-shek, who was "retired" in Fenghua, heard the news, angrily ordered all warships not to go to sea, and sent planes to scout, track and bombard the "Chongqing" ship. At this critical moment, Chairman Mao and Commander-in-Chief Zhu De sent messages of condolence to Deng Zhaoxiang and all the officers and men of the "Chungking" ship, saying, "Your uprising shows that the Kuomintang reactionaries and their master, American imperialism, are at the end of their rope. They can blow up a Chongqing, but they can't stop more warships from coming with you. More warships, planes and army troops will rebel and stand on the side of the China People's Liberation Army. " Encourage them to be "pioneers in the construction of the Chinese people's navy" and "Chongqing" to break through the enemy blockade and successfully arrive at Yantai Port in the liberated area on February 26th.

Letters of encouragement from Chairman Mao and Commander-in-Chief Zhu are a great encouragement to the "Chongqing" ship and all patriotic Kuomintang naval officers and men. Shortly after the "Chongqing" ship uprising, Lin Zun, commander of the Second Fleet of the Kuomintang Navy, led an uprising in Badoushan, Nanjing. The officers and men of Jiangyin Fort, the support point of the Kuomintang crossing the river, rebelled, and even the "Changzhi" ship harassed by the Kuomintang from Taiwan Province Province to the Yangtze River estuary declared an uprising ... The CPC Central Committee and Chairman Mao were very concerned about the officers and men of the "Chongqing" ship uprising. On the eve of founding ceremony, Deng Zhaoxiang was invited to attend the first Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Conference, was elected as a member of the first CPPCC, and boarded the Tiananmen Gate to attend the world-famous founding ceremony.

During the first session of China People's Political Consultative Conference, Chairman Mao entrusted Comrade Zhou Enlai to meet with four naval uprising generals, including Deng Zhaoxiang and Lin Zun. Zhou Enlai inquired about their work and living conditions carefully, and solicited their opinions on the construction of the People's Navy for many times. Deng Zhaoxiang said that the construction of the People's Navy needs talents. Many people in the old navy have patriotic ideas and know professional skills. They should be invited to go out of the mountains and play their role. After questions and concerns from leaders such as Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai, many senior members of the old navy have devoted themselves to the construction of the People's Navy. Most of them have been assigned to important positions, and some of them still hold important positions.

Deng Zhaoxiang will never forget the days when he attended founding ceremony in Beijing. I remember one day, the staff told him and Lin Zun that Comrade Zhu De would invite them to Zhongnanhai. After a while, a car came to the Six Kingdoms Hotel (the predecessor of Beijing Hotel) where they stayed. The car that picked them up was specially sent by Nie. More suddenly, when they arrived in Zhongnanhai, they realized that Zhu De had specially prepared a banquet for them. At the banquet, Commander-in-Chief Zhu De, whom Deng Zhaoxiang admired for a long time, frequently raised glasses to thank them for their contribution to the People's Navy. The newly established People's Navy is in urgent need of talents, and Deng Zhaoxiang is committed to the construction of naval academies. He was the first president of Anton Naval School, and later led the establishment of the first naval speedboat school in New China, and served as the vice president of Dalian Naval School. Under extremely difficult conditions, he and his teachers worked together to compile teaching materials, make teaching AIDS, study and improve teaching methods, and trained a large number of outstanding talents for New China. The first speedboat unit of the People's Navy, composed of the first batch of graduates from the speedboat school, has repeatedly made meritorious deeds and was praised by Chairman Mao.

1955, Deng Zhaoxiang was awarded the rank of major general. In 1960s, Deng Zhaoxiang's love of books became a much-told story in Qingdao. He frequents Qingdao's ancient books, foreign languages and Xinhua Bookstore all the year round. In the long river of years, he became friends with the older generation and the new generation of staff in the bookstore. All bookstores in Qingdao have formed an unwritten rule: all newly published or internally distributed books and periodicals should be left to Deng Zhaoxiang; Any book that Deng Zhaoxiang wants to buy, even if the bookstore has no stock, must find a way to meet his requirements.

Deng Zhaoxiang often tells people around him: "It is books that teach us how to think about colorful life and how to appreciate the ups and downs of the world, thus teaching us how to identify all kinds of thoughts, feelings and things and achieve the purpose of subliming life, surpassing life and understanding life."

1993 On New Year's Day, Deng Zhaoxiang bought a set of Encyclopedia of China when he went to Beijing for a meeting. After returning to the army, he asked his secretary to give it to the North Sea Fleet Library. He cares about the growth of soldiers and often sends books to the troops. Deng Lao treasures books and magazines very much. Caring for books is like caring for your own eyes. Every time he reads a book, he washes his hands, turns it over gently, and when he sees the main place, he cuts a small note and makes a mark on the book. All the books he has read are kept clean and tidy, just like those just published.

Deng Zhaoxiang not only cares about the study life of the soldiers around him, but also cares about the naval soldiers who are far away from home. He presented nearly a thousand books to cadres and soldiers in Xisha Islands and Nansha Islands. At the same time, he also entrusted many books, albums and videos presented to him by the publishing house to officers and men in Xisha and Nansha.

Deng Zhaoxiang has a special affection for the ocean. He said, "The sea area I have traveled is nearly 3 million square kilometers. Today, when mankind enters the era of marine economy, the battlefield is not only in the mainland, but also in the ocean. We must vigorously publicize marine awareness, speed up the quality construction of the people's navy, and earnestly defend China's maritime rights and interests. " In 1960s, Deng Zhaoxiang's hard work and plain living style became a much-told story in the army. One of his long-sleeved shirts has been worn for nine years, with a broken collar and a broken cuff. Until later, he simply cut the long sleeves into short sleeves and still wore them on his body. During China's difficult economic times, Deng Zhaoxiang could not bear to wear the leather shoes issued by the army and carefully put them away. When issuing new leather shoes, he said, "My leather shoes are still very new, so there is no need to change them." Deng Zhaoxiang often goes to Beijing for meetings. According to the regulations, the vice chairman of the CPPCC should enjoy the treatment of adding an official car, but he has never wanted this treatment since he took up this position. Every time the relevant department wants to add an official car to him, he says, "Adding an official car requires more than a dozen staff members. This is too wasteful. " Over the years, Deng Zhaoxiang has never been able to implement some special living treatment given to him by the state. Every time he went out for a meeting and inspection, he insisted on sharing a soft sleeper with the secretary, doctor and guard, and talked and laughed with everyone along the way.

Deng Zhaoxiang became friends with the staff in the soft sleeper car. Whenever Deng Lao walks to the door of the carriage, the train conductor and the waiter warmly shake hands with him and say hello to him, as if they were friends reunited after a long separation. Every time Deng Zhaoxiang eats, he goes to the dining car through a crowded carriage, and never lets the conductor take the meal to his carriage. Food is also the simplest and cheapest four dishes and one soup. Deng Lao eats with the staff around him, always chatting while eating: "If life is beautiful, you can't lose the hard and simple heirloom. In the past, Premier Zhou advocated four dishes and one soup. Today, General Secretary Jiang talked about three dishes and one soup. We ate four dishes and one soup, which exceeded the standard. " .

When Deng Zhaoxiang retired from the post of Deputy Commander of the Navy, the leader of the North Sea Fleet wanted to make a wool breeches uniform for him, but he refused to do anything. He kept saying, "It's all the same. I still have clothes to wear. Don't waste them. Every penny should be used where it is needed more. " Rank cadres who have just graduated from colleges and universities wear wool breeches uniforms, while Mr. Deng wears old navy polyester uniforms to and from work and goes in and out of the gate of the fleet.
