About the author:

Wang Ximeng (1096-1119 [Legend]), a famous painter in the late Northern Song Dynasty, was the only talented person who became famous for his painting in the history of China. However, there is no record about him in the history books.

When he was in his teens, Wang Ximeng entered the palace to study painting for a living, but he didn't work hard at first. Song Huizong Zhao Jishi was a student of the Academy of Painting, and later he was called into the Forbidden Library. He served in Hui Zong. Song Huizong had a unique eye and thought that "its nature can be taught", so he taught it himself. Wang Ximeng, taught by Zhao's relatives, shows pen and ink techniques and strives for perfection in art, so his paintings surpass the moment.

In April of the third year of Hui Zongzhu's administration (113), it took Wang Ximeng half a year to finally draw a famous painting "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains", when he was only eighteen years old.
