In order to better serve readers, our library started the second upgrade at the end of 2006. The reconstruction and expansion project has been highly valued and widely concerned by the Municipal Party Committee, the Municipal Government, the Municipal Bureau of Culture and all walks of life, and has been included in one of the municipal government's key projects for the people in 2006. On June 5438+ 10, 2005, the reconstruction and expansion project of Shijiazhuang Library was approved by Shijiazhuang Development and Reform Commission, and the reconstruction and expansion was carried out at the original site of the city library, with the reconstruction area of 103 10 square meters and the newly-built area of 5860 square meters. After reconstruction and expansion, the total area of the library reaches 16 170 square meters.
After the reconstruction and expansion, the city library has a new area of 2,274 square meters, which can accommodate 3 million books, and has nearly 1000 reading seats, which broadens the service items and improves the reading environment. It integrates collection, borrowing, reading and surfing the Internet, and is equipped with a number of service halls, such as digital resource library, newspaper reading library, literature reading library, historical literature reading library and children's book lending area.
