Kaiping diaolou information
Kaiping Diaolou, located in Kaiping City under the jurisdiction of Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province, is a unique local building in China. It is a multi-storey tower building integrating defense, residence and Chinese and western architectural arts. It is characterized by the combination of Chinese and western dwellings, with various styles such as ancient Greece, ancient Rome and Islam.

Gigi Lai Village Diaolou skillfully combines the traditional rural architectural culture of China with the western architectural culture, which rarely reflects the extensive exchange of modern Chinese and western cultures in rural China, and has become a memorial monument of overseas Chinese culture in China and a unique world architectural art landscape.

The project of "Kaiping Diaolou and Ancient Villages" applying for World Cultural Heritage was approved at New Zealand 3 1 World Heritage Conference. On June 28th, 2007, Kaiping Diaolou and Village were listed in the World Cultural Heritage List, becoming the 35th World Cultural Heritage Project in China.

There are 1833 watchtowers in Kaiping, with more than 3,000 at most, which are mainly distributed in 15 township streets such as Tangkou Town, Baihe Town and Chikan Town in Kaiping City. These buildings, mainly built in the 1920s and 1930s, are one of the greatest cultural heritages in the Republic of China, and also an important product of witnessing the transformation of China from a traditional society to a modern society.

Kaiping Diaolou and ancient villages are mainly distributed in five ancient villages. Gigi Lai Village, Liyuan and Majianglong are the core scenic spots in Kaiping Diaolou Cultural Tourism Zone, which are worth seeing, mainly including Loulou, Luju and Lansheng. And the photos of the surrounding rice fields are very effective. Gigi Lai Village has 15 watchtowers with different styles, exquisite shapes and rich connotations, and is an outstanding representative of Kaiping watchtower in its heyday.
