The end of the south
20/kloc-in March, 2008, in my office in Beijing, I was extremely depressed by endless cloudy days and trivial gossip. Decided to go to the south to disinfect thoroughly in the scorching sun and clean myself up.

As soon as the plane landed in Singapore, I fell in love with the rich plant fragrance here. The taxi driver is from China, and he looks over 50 years old. As soon as he opens his mouth, he speaks typical Singaporean English. When he confirmed the address, he stopped talking. I like his silence. The car is all air-conditioned, because it is night, I can only see the overhead and rows of tropical plants outside the window, including coconut trees, banana trees, rain trees and dragon trees. They are not the familiar northern willows, but dark green and humid plants.

Very smoothly arrived at the rented house, a two-story building facing the street. I guess Cai Lan lives in the same house. There are many banana trees, tiger tail orchids, a round glass table, three rattan chairs, a washing machine and several rows of iron shelves to dry clothes in the yard. Charming little courtyard.

I live in a small bedroom on the second floor. From the window, I can see my neighbor's yard, which is full of flowers. I look up at the blue sky and pure white clouds.

I started wandering every day.

Because it was too hot, I stayed in the nearby library for a long time. The two-story library has a French window on one wall and a large lawn outside the window. I often see birds landing on the windowsill, walking around stupidly, and a squirrel. The squirrel confirmed his eyes with me, and then went straight to the lawn. In the library, I read the English version of Three-body, Acheng's books, and the complete works of Cai Lan. On the first floor of the library, there is a coffee shop where you can have lunch, drink coffee and read newspapers. I'm in love with his Sarah. I eat it almost every time. Most areas on the first floor are children's areas, with low bookshelves, desks and stools. There are many children reading books and doing their homework here. I can't help but envy the children here. If I had such an environment in my childhood, my life might be completely different.

There is a big solid wood desk and leather sofa on the second floor, and there is a cubicle for reading. Talking on the phone, eating and sleeping are not allowed here. Once I was very tired and fell asleep at my desk. The result was asked by the librarian's sister, are you okay? She thinks I'm not feeling well.

The library has a favorite environment, books and cool air conditioning, and can enter and exit at any time without any formalities. I immediately devoted all my enthusiasm, reported in the library on time every morning, and then went home at sunset.

The dusk here is the most enjoyable. Sometimes it rains heavily, the temperature drops, the cool breeze blows gently, and the strong smell of grass evaporates on the ground. The sky is light blue, white and slightly pink.

I couldn't help running.

The Singapore government is really human. The sidewalk on the roadside is paved with cement. Where there is no shade, there are also awnings built by the government to keep out the sun and rain. Therefore, even if the traffic in the next lane is busy, it will not affect the mood of pedestrians at all. There is no need to worry or worry about safety. The cars here must be for pedestrians. I was not used to it at first. Seeing a car coming, I stopped habitually. As a result, the car stopped for a long time I didn't react until the driver honked the horn. I didn't know he was reminding me to go first. There are buttons at the intersections of many roads. When pedestrians reach the intersection, press the button, and the traffic lights will turn green in a moment, thus avoiding the car waiting unnecessarily when there are no pedestrians.

Next to the road, there will always be a lawn that makes people feel luxurious, or a jungle as dense as a virgin forest, and even flowers and plants hanging on the overpass. If you don't run, you can't live up to such good air.

After a short stroll, I chose the most suitable route for running, including a bridge, a gentle slope and a section of tree-lined road in residential areas. Run a lap for 30 minutes. If you have the strength, run two laps, sweat profusely, and then take a bath, and it will all be exposed. After running for a few days, I met a foreigner, a woman in her thirties, who also ran along this road every day. We just laughed and didn't speak.

After running and taking a shower, I went to the food court for dinner.

The food court looks like a food stall in Beijing. Under a semi-open shed, people from the whole community came here in an endless stream, regardless of time, looking for food. There are cafes, seafood, all kinds of pasta, kway teow, laksa, Indian pancakes and so on. My favorite are iced lemon tea, lesha, bak Kut teh and Malay scenery. This Malay scenery is fried spinach mixed with seafood sauce, which is very tasty. Sometimes I can't help it I'll order a lot. Here are two copies of the residents here. The proprietress looked at me in surprise and ate it all.

What do you mean, live up to the good sunshine? Just hanging clothes. This is unimaginable in Beijing, but the sunshine at the equator is so good and the air is so delicate. Watching clothes dance with the wind in the sun is really a sigh of comfortable life.

In the wind, there are Teresa Teng's minor, the faint taste of fish ball soup, the fragrance of coffee and black tea, and the national flag. When you are rubbed in this Pacific wind, time is blurred. The gentleness of Nanyang is psychedelic, remote and gentle, intoxicating and forgetting.
