Ningxia Normal University is located in Guyuan City, a historic city under Liupanshan Mountain in southern Ningxia, and is under the management of the People's Government of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. It is the only normal undergraduate college in Ningxia. It was built by the Education Department of the Autonomous Region and Guyuan Municipal Government. It is one of the pilot work units of "Serving the National Special Needs Talents Training Project" and the first pilot school of free education for normal students in Ningxia.
The school has two campuses, Gu Yan Campus and Wen Yuan Campus, with a total area of 927,907.2 square meters, teaching administrative rooms 129 132 square meters and student dormitories of 63,802 square meters.
