This sentence has existed since ancient times. According to research, during the reign of Shunzhi in Qing Dynasty, Wen Linlang, a native of Gansu, resigned from his post and lived in seclusion in the countryside because he was dissatisfied with the officialdom. In his later years, he wrote a pair of main halls, which is that sentence.
Later, people more associated this sentence with "San Tan Yin Yue" written by Lu Xun. According to the memory and textual research of Mr. Lu Xun's teacher and bookstore owner, Shou Jason Wu, "San Tan Yin Yue" was purchased by Shou Yu's great-great grandfather, Shou Fenglan. He used to be in business, but when the Opium War broke out, the Qing government was incompetent, ceded land for compensation, suppressed internal exploitation, and his business was unsustainable, so he abandoned business to run schools. Shou Fenglan stipulated that "San Tan Yin Yue" only taught ancient literature books, but not the contents needed for fame, such as trial poems and eight-part essays. San Tan Yin Yue was originally "Sanyu Bookstore", and Sanyu published "The History of the Three Kingdoms". Pei Songzhi's Note: Dong Yu, an old farmer of Wei, is knowledgeable. Someone came here to study as a teacher. Dong Yu said to the newcomer, "For learning, we should use three jade", that is, "When it is winter, when it is night, when it is rain." This means that we should make full use of every spare time and study hard. Shou Fenglan asked his son to change "jade" to "taste" and clarified that "three flavors" means: "Cloth is warm, roots are fragrant, and reading tastes long." Since then, this sentence has become the teaching policy of three pools reflecting the moon and a family rule of Shoujia.
It can be seen that the protagonists of the above two stories all like the phrase "clothes are warm and vegetables are fragrant and reading tastes long", because they are disgusted with the corruption in officialdom and have the idea of longing for an indifferent and quiet life.
1958, the state began to train cadres at the grassroots level. Encourage and educate my nephew to exercise at the grassroots level, and send him a word as encouragement: "Clothes are warm and fragrant, and reading tastes long."
In contrast, what Zhou Enlai said to his nephew has a deeper and more vivid meaning, full of his ardent expectations and profound teachings for the younger generation. I understand that there are three meanings.
First of all, we should develop and maintain the good habit of hard work and love of labor, and grow into talents through labor training. "Cloth" and "vegetable root" refer to the two most basic aspects of people's daily life. They are not luxurious, so how can they be "warm" and "fragrant"? If nothing else, it is because the working people have obtained it through their own hard work, and they are comfortable to wear and eat. Only those who have experienced the whole process from hard work to fruit harvest can truly appreciate the true meaning of "a porridge and a meal are hard to come by, and it is difficult to think persistently", and can truly appreciate the taste of "clothes are warm and vegetables are fragrant". Therefore, Zhou Enlai often quoted the children of the Eight Banners in the Qing Dynasty as lazy and pampered, and as a result, they lost the lessons of the world. He warned the children of the younger generation and senior cadres not to rely on relationships and privileges, but to rely on hard work, actively participate in labor practice and construction practice, and create social wealth and future with their own hands. Zhou worked as a tractor driver in rural Henan, married a local girl and said happily to him, "This is very good, and the laborer is glorious!" " He also reminded: at present, the countryside is really hard, but hard work can exercise people and it takes a lifetime of hard work.
Secondly, we should go deep into the grass roots, be close to the masses, become one with the masses, and cultivate deep feelings of sharing the same breath and destiny with the working people. Sharing weal and woe with the masses and not being an official is an attitude towards life. It is this attitude that Zhou Enlai has been pursuing all his life and asking the younger generation to do it. He repeatedly educated the younger generation to always stand on the side of workers and peasants and consciously resist the erosion of privileged thoughts. To this end, he strongly supports and encourages the younger generation to go to the grassroots and work as ordinary workers in places with difficult conditions. 1968, after learning that his niece Zhou Bingjian was determined to settle in the pastoral area of Inner Mongolia, Zhou Enlai warmly encouraged: "Bing Jian, I firmly support you to settle in the Inner Mongolia prairie under the guidance of Chairman Mao and take the road of combining educated youth with workers and peasants." Zhou Enlai thought it over carefully and said, "Be prepared to overcome all kinds of difficulties. Don't ignore the difficulties. You didn't eat beef and mutton in the past, but eating beef and mutton in pastoral areas should exercise. It's important to live a good life first. You are going to pastoral areas and ethnic minority areas, so you should pay attention to and respect the customs there. When you settle in the pastoral areas of Inner Mongolia, you must go to the middle of the poor and middle-aged pastoral areas, learn from the working people there with an open mind, learn their excellent qualities, and unite with the Mongolian people. " From 1970 to 12, Zhou Bingjian was recruited into the pastoral troops, and his troops were located in the suburbs of Beijing. After Zhou Enlai knew it, he said to his niece earnestly, "Although you are qualified to join the army, you were chosen among so many people in Inner Mongolia for our sake." ? We can't make it special, not at all. You should go back to the grassland, to the herdsmen and continue to receive education. You should give the opportunity to join the army to the children of poor middle peasants and workers. ""If you go back, you still have to live in a yurt and stay with herders. This matter must be 100% completed. " So, Zhou Bingjian returned to the grassland, ate, lived and worked with the herdsmen, and really became one with them. Later, Zhou Bingjian recalled 27 years of living and working in Inner Mongolia, and said with deep affection, "I have the same feelings for the prairie and the Xihuating, and have forged a lifelong fate. "
Third, we should study hard, read good books, seriously appreciate all kinds of interests in books, constantly increase our knowledge reserves and enhance our ability to transform the objective world. On the issue of learning, Zhou Enlai has a famous saying: "It's never too old to learn, and then to be old." He believes that "pause is backwardness, and backwardness will rust the mind." Therefore, he proposed that young people should "study hard, improve their cultural and scientific level, and master modern science and technology". For his younger generation, Zhou Enlai is very demanding. When she settled in the pastoral area of Inner Mongolia, Zhou Enlai specially asked Deng to send her an article introducing the story of female educated youth published by People's Daily, asking her to know the truth carefully. Another nephew, Zhou, works as a worker in Qingdao General Machinery Factory. Once, I wrote to Deng and reported his achievements in thought, work and study. And Deng Dou, specially gave him the fourth volume of Selected Works of Mao Zedong, which was not easy to buy at that time, as a reward, hoping that he would study it well. Of course, in Zhou Enlai's view, learning books is only one aspect of acquiring knowledge, and it is also necessary to "learn from the masses and learn from actual struggles". The ultimate goal of learning is to serve practice. Books and books that are divorced from social reality and the needs of the masses are not worth reading. This is also one of the original intentions of Zhou Enlai to encourage the younger generation to participate in grassroots labor and social practice. The so-called "reading tastes long" has its profound meaning in these places.
Generally speaking, the phrase "warm clothes and delicious dishes make reading taste long" vividly expresses Zhou Enlai's basic requirements for the growth and progress of the younger generation. In short, it is based on the grass roots, facing the masses, engaging in social practice, eager to learn from books, the masses and practice, constantly transforming the subjective world in the process of transforming the objective world, and becoming a qualified successor to the cause of revolution and construction. What Zhou Bingjian said when he recalled Zhou Enlai's teachings may be an apt comment: From the time I wore a red scarf as a primary school student, I knew that my uncle supported my brothers and sisters' attitude of loving the countryside and volunteering to work at the grassroots level, because he often taught us to learn from workers' uncles and farmers' uncles and to be an ordinary worker with socialist consciousness and culture when I grew up.
The family education of leading cadres, especially the education of the younger generation, is not only a personal family matter, but also a major event related to the relationship between cadres and the masses and the social atmosphere. Zhou Enlai put it well: "We are a socialist society, different from feudal society and capitalist society, but history can also be used for reference. Qin Shihuang was able to unify China, but spoiled Qin Ershi. As a result, the Qin Dynasty died in Qin Ershi "; Leading cadres "should set an example", "don't produce a group of young masters", "it is appropriate to be strict with cadres' children" and "never let children become a burden to the country and society and hinder the progress of our cause". Zhou Enlai is a model for educating the younger generation.
Warm cloth, fragrant vegetable root and long reading taste are said to be the real meaning of the "three flavors" of the "three flavors" bookstore. I think it is really in my mind. If you think it over carefully and it is in line with my personality, write it and share it with my friends.
Cloth is warm, which means dressing. For a long time, I didn't like suits and ties very much The industry I am engaged in generally does not need to go in and out of formal occasions, and the environment is poor and the coal dust is flying. Being alone outside, dressing, washing and ironing are very troublesome; In addition, I worked in a foreign-funded enterprise in the early years and dared not wear a suit; The shirt and tie inside and the windbreaker outside have been frozen for several years in winter, and I really don't like it. Now, because of saving trouble, I only wear jeans all year round, thick jeans in autumn and winter, and thin jeans in spring and summer, which are resistant to dirt and comfortable. Only wear T-shirts in summer, and they must be made of cotton, also for the convenience of washing. Shoes are simpler, a pair of sports shoes or cloth shoes, wear them until they are thrown away. The only thing that is a little petty is that, first, I love famous brands, mainly because they are reliable in quality. Buy international brands when you have money and domestic brands when you have no money; Second, underwear and socks must use the best; You have to feel sorry for yourself. Comfort is your own, and beauty belongs to others. Most men don't like shopping. I buy two sets of clothes to wash in a season. My outlook on clothes is also roughly the same.
Another meaning I have extended or misinterpreted is to make friends with clothes. I'm not very introverted, but generally speaking, I don't talk much, especially when I first met. Once cooked, especially after a few glasses of wine, you will go crazy. When I make friends, I usually only make friends in cloth, because there is no utilitarian heart in it, so I can be called a true friend; In addition, I am easy-going on the surface, but actually I am very "hairy" inside, and even willing to "die for my bosom friend"; I only have one life, so I am more cautious in making friends; This is the advantage of being hurt and forced by "bad friends" for more than ten years. I have a "bad friend" who has been in contact for five years and I don't know how many times he has hurt me; But as long as I drink three glasses of wine and shout "brother" a few times, I can't help but "risk my life" for him, because I think he is "not bad in nature"; Five years later, he suddenly realized that I was his own brother. Make friends, regardless of gains and losses, everything is free, that's all.
Vegetable root fragrance means eating. Vegetable roots are more expensive than meat now. After reading this sentence, you will understand. My request for food is very simple, I don't elaborate, as long as it is simple and affordable, it is good to appetize; Favorite jiaozi (including vegetable wonton) and hot pot. Wonton (similar to jiaozi's) is the most famous specialty food in my hometown, and I have loved it since I was a child. In the early years, my family was poor, and my parents were only children, four old people and three sisters. Their wages have to support nine people and they can only eat wonton on holidays. "Not as delicious as jiaozi, but as comfortable as a hammer." Not rough. Of all the foods, jiaozi is probably the only one that can be eaten as both a meal and a dish. "jiaozi drinks, and the more he eats, the more he eats." .
The hobby of hot pot was cultivated after entering Sichuan; I began to be afraid of eating, and the smell of butter made me uncomfortable. Then I ate it, and it got out of hand; I don't eat for a few days, and I want to panic; Even developed to the extent of loving "dried rapeseed"; I am spicy, so my temper is getting more and more "hairy"; According to Chairman Mao, this place is becoming more and more suitable for revolution. Friends treat or invite friends, preferably hot pot, which is cheap and affordable. A tempting bottle of bread or a glass of beer, everything is ready. Getting a few punches is a pleasure; Drinking is temperament. My drinking buddy said: if you don't get drunk, you might as well sleep with your wife.
Reading tastes long, because a person is wandering outside, he doesn't like playing cards, watching TV and singing western songs, so he has no choice but to read; Now there is one more thing: surfing the internet is actually reading books. "The book has its own golden house, and the book has its own Yan Ruyu". The first sentence is false, and the last sentence is true. But if you want to change it to "Bo has its Yan Ruyu", I think everyone in Dabo has a good understanding, so I won't say it.
When I read a book, I usually browse it first. If I think this text is too difficult, I will give up reading. I'm going to say fox again. Oh, not purple fox. Like Nietzsche, she read it. I don't understand it, so I won't read it. As for the genre, I like to watch everything, such as astronomy, geography, entertainment, literature, science and technology, martial arts, as long as it is within my understanding.
But I have a bad memory and forget it after reading it; Maybe it was misled by a teacher. He poisoned me and said, Just take the pearls in the box. What do you want with the box? Now that I think about it, the box is actually quite important, at least it is easy to find, or it can decorate the living room. So when I was studying, I just tasted it and my thoughts melted into my heart. I often remember the meaning, but forget how to say it. Fortunately, there is internet now. If you can't remember, you can look it up online. Reading a good book is like chatting with a friend who has been friends with God for a long time. He is often full of energy, beaming and amazing. The thinking behind a book, like missing the elegance and humor of a good friend, can't help but smile.
These are my favorite "three flavors": warm clothes, fragrant roots and long reading.
