What are the three trials and three schools?
The third trial means that the responsible editor (editor-in-chief, deputy editor-in-chief, editor and assistant editor can all be responsible editors) carries out the first trial (preliminary trial), the editor-in-chief (or deputy director) or the editor-in-chief and deputy editor-in-chief entrusted by the publishing house leader (second trial), and the editor-in-chief and deputy editor-in-chief entrusted by the president, editor-in-chief or social leader carries out the final trial (third trial).

The third proofreading (sān jiào), also known as final proofreading, is a publishing term, which refers to the third proofreading of a manuscript and the last proofreading before reading through. The final school must be held by full-time proofreaders with intermediate or above professional qualifications from the publishing unit.

The system of "three examinations and three schools" stipulates the specific content of review at all levels. It can not only realize the objective and fair evaluation of the manuscript, but also avoid the mistakes caused by editors' lack of knowledge and negligence, which is helpful to strictly control the quality of the manuscript.

Extended data:

Proofreading methods of three schools:

1, manual proofreading

Traditional proofreading methods rely entirely on manual proofreading.

2, computer proofreading

At present, many publishing houses use the dark horse proofreading software to proofread for three times. The three proofs returned by the printer are all computer proofs, which are mainly corrected. Mark the errors of computer proofing manually in proofing, and check whether the correction of the second proofing is correct.
