Brief introduction of Jilin library
The predecessor of Jilin Provincial Library was established in the year of Tong Yuan (A.D. 1909). Located in the present Jilin City, where Jilin Province was located at that time, it experienced the period of the Republic of China and the period of the Puppet Manchukuo. After the founding of New China, the capital of Jilin Province was moved to Changchun in 1954, and a new museum was built in Changchun in 1957. The new library was completed on 1958, and was named Jilin Provincial Library with the approval of the provincial government, and its organizational structure was determined. 1960 Jilin Provincial Library officially opened. The new library has a designed collection of 5 million volumes, 3,000 reading seats and an average of 6,000 readers per day. The new library has intelligent lending system, 24-hour self-service library, 4D cinema and full coverage of wireless network, which will provide readers with a better reading experience.
