Minzu University of China (hereinafter referred to as "Minzu University of China") is located in Haidian District, Beijing, with the National Library in the south and Zhongguancun Science Park in the north. It is a comprehensive national key university jointly established by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, Beijing Municipality and the Ministry of Education. It is a national "double first-class" university and a national "985 Project" and "2 1 1 project".

The Central University for Nationalities was founded by Beijing, the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, the people of China and the Ministry of Education. 1978 was approved as a national key university, ranking among the first-class universities in China (Class A), 21engineering, and 985 key construction universities. The Central University for Nationalities is an institution of higher learning with all characteristics established by the Party and the state to solve ethnic problems in China and train ethnic minority cadres and senior professionals.
