Inner Mongolia is located in the northern frontier of the motherland, east longitude 126 degrees 29 minutes, northwest longitude 97 degrees 10 minutes. It is the largest provincial administrative region in China, with a straight line distance of more than 400 kilometers from east to west. It starts from 37 24' north latitude in the south and ends at 53 23' north latitude, occupying latitude15 59' vertically, and the linear distance is 1700 km.

The whole territory is dominated by plateaus, and most areas are above 1000 meters above sea level, commonly known as Inner Mongolia Plateau. The main mountain ranges are Daxinganling, Helan, Wula and Daqingshan. The eastern grassland is vast and the western desert is widely distributed.

Inner Mongolia borders Mongolia and Russia to the north. Area1180,000 square kilometers. During the Warring States period, it belonged to Zhao, Yan and other countries, followed by Xiongnu and Donghu, the northern minority in China, the Turks in the Tang Dynasty, the Liao and Xixia in the Song Dynasty and Inner Mongolia in the Qing Dynasty.

After the Yuan Dynasty unified China, Inner Mongolia belonged to Gansu Province in the west, Liaoyang Province in the east and Zhongshu Province and Lingbei Province in the middle. Its jurisdiction includes today's northern Inner Mongolia, Mongolia and southern Siberia.

At the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, Beiyuan belonged to Mobei and was destroyed by Judy. After outer Mongolia was occupied by Tatar, Wala and Wuliangha, the Ming Dynasty retreated to the south of Hetao area.

In the early years of Qing Dynasty, most of Monan Mongols surrendered, and then galdan, a Junggar aristocrat, rose up and fought many times. Finally, in 1776, the rebellion of a few nobles in Junggar was put down and the Mongolian region was unified.

Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region was founded in 1947, including Chahar Province, Xing 'an Province and parts of Ningxia Province, Jehol Province, Heilongjiang Province and Suiyuan Province. /kloc-moved its capital to Zhangjiakou in 0/949, and moved back to Suishi in 52, renamed Hohhot.

During the ten years from 1969 to 1979, the geographical division changed frequently. The administrative division of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region was formed in July 1979.
