: First, the development of libraries
As early as 3000 BC, temples in Babylon collected all kinds of records carved on clay tablets. The earliest collection sites were the collection sites of Greek temples and the collection sites attached to the Greek Philosophy Institute (4th century BC).
The earliest library-According to the excavation results of archaeologists, we know that the earliest library in the world is Nineveh Library in Mesopotamia Plain (founded by King Su Bangjie of Assyria, so it is also called Su Bangjie Library). It is the most complete, largest and complete library among the ancient civilization sites excavated today. It was more than 400 years earlier than the famous Alexandria Library in Egypt (the largest library in ancient times), and because of the particularity of clay books, most of them were well preserved and were not destroyed by the war like Alexandria Library.
China Library has a long history. At first, it was not called library, but called house, pavilion, temple, courtyard, temple, study and building. For example, the Mengfu in the Western Zhou Dynasty, the Shiqu Pavilion in Dongguan and Lantai in the Han Dynasty, the official literature school in the Sui and Tang Dynasties, the Chongwen Hall in the Song Dynasty, the Dansheng Hall in the Ming Dynasty, the Siku and Qige "Library" in the Qing Dynasty were all foreign languages, which were introduced to China from Japan at the end of 19.
According to the word "library" in the dictionary, the word "library" first appeared in Japanese literature from 65438 to 0877. It first appeared in China literature in 1894, the 62nd issue of Education World.
The earliest provincial library in China is the Hubei Provincial Library established in 1904.
