Muao spent three weeks searching around the ruins. From the magnificent and vivid reliefs and beautiful statues of local buildings, he inferred that Angkor once had a highly civilized dynasty. Muo recorded the scenery in front of him in great detail, then rushed back to France and published everything he saw through newspapers, but no one believed him.
