1, look for high-quality cardboard first. Card paper, as its name implies, is paper made of card material and is an ideal material for making greeting cards. Card paper is usually thick and of good quality. You can buy it at a stationery store or a handicraft store. According to the different styles of cards you want to make, you can buy more colors for standby. For example, when making cards, you can make multi-layer cards.
In order to make the cards more professional, it is best to use two complementary colors for each card. First cut out two pieces of paper with the same shape, one big and one small, and then post the small one in the center of the big card, so that the shape will look more chic.
After folding, write a greeting on the card, which is particularly delicate. If you don't want to leave a bulge on the back of the card because of writing, you can also put ordinary white paper inside the card and write a greeting.
2. Collect other materials. Depending on the style and type of card, you may need the following materials:
Glue or paste stick, pen with smooth writing, scissors, photos or patterns cut from magazines, ruler and any other decorations you want to use.
3. Cut out the basic card shape. After selecting the color of the most extended part of the greeting card, cut it according to the corresponding size. A standard greeting card is rectangular, and the folded size is usually 5 to 7 inches (12.7 to 17.8 cm).
Since it has not been folded in half at this time, it is necessary to measure two areas twice this size with a ruler and then carefully cut them out with scissors. You'd better cut the right angle of the card straight. So if conditions permit, you can use a paper cutter.
Also, don't forget to cut one or two cards of different colors. Cut cards of different colors into the same shape, but the size is smaller, about 3 to 5 cm on each side. Then stick the smaller card in the center of the larger card, completely dry and fold the card in half.
You can also do the same thing on the other side of the card. In this way, both sides of the card have unique designs. In fact, the shape and the position of the card can be played casually, and can be adjusted freely according to the style, mood and season of the card.
You can cut the smaller card in the card into a diamond shape, which looks more design-oriented. And in winter, snowflake-shaped patterns are also a good choice. Of course, if it is a Valentine's Day card, then the heart shape is undoubtedly the most appropriate.
4. Carefully fold the card in half. Creases must be even and detailed. Next, put the card in a thick book so that the crease can be pressed more smoothly. After everything is done, you can write greetings on the inside of the card, and then make the final decoration on the card!
You can also consider making postcards instead of folding them. This saves the trouble of making creases. Just cut out the right size on the card paper, decorate one side of the card, and then leave the other side to write down information, wishes, address and stamp. This kind of practice can't be simpler.
